The Jacks Fork River is located approximately 5 minutes north of our home town, Mountain View Missouri.
This is a picture of a much larger (than shown) map that is hanging in one of our good friends family cabin on the river.
Jacks Fork is one of two rivers in Missouri that are part of the Ozark National Scenic Riverways system.
Starting in Texas County, Missouri, this spring-fed river flows 46.4 miles in a general east to northeasterly direction through the heart of the geological area known as the Lower Ozark Natural Division. It is the major tributary of the Current River, ending at its confluence near Eminence, Missouri.
The first 25 miles from the Prongs to Bay Creek is deep valley and in the springtime provides Class II water. Due to lack of access, it is the most primitive of the rivers in the region. From Alley Spring to its confluence with the Current River it is a Class I River and is floatable year round with warm water.
The Jacks Fork provides some of the most natural conditions in the region with many caves and natural springs. It is a popular recreation destination for canoeists and kayakers and is generally considered a Class I-II difficulty river.
Jacks Fork has the name of John Jacks, a local Indian pioneer citizen. The river is mentioned in the lyrics of the Greg Brown song "Walkin' Daddy" on the album Covenant. ----https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacks_Fork
We absolutely love spending our summers on this river and have many memorable times here!!!
As you might have seen we have floated this river many times from the prongs to two rivers (where it meets the current).
Spending time here is what i would assume therapy is like..... going out on the river and hearing the boat push of the bank is just..... amazing....there's no other way to put it... i like to call our float trips 'River Therapy' for this reason... you don't return the same... it's like natures reset button for us!
The jacks is lined with HUGE bluffs and just about every stretch has a cave or a spring!
One of the largest caves in Missouri is 'Jam-up' Cave! We try to stop every chance we get when floating by!!
This place is so peaceful, words cannot even describe!
I have lived here most of my life and it seems like every day i'm finding something new about the jacks fork!
I found out about 'poling' up river from these guys!
This is a beautiful place we live in and i will never take it for granted!!

@jakeimnotshure I had a paddler from Chicago say the same thing to me when I was writing a feature for The Standard about the Jacks Fork a few years ago.
Niceeee!!! Ozarks Famous
It blew my mind to see first-hand how many people travel from great distances to spend time on this amazing river. God's Country, indeed.
Yeah its crazy!! Buttt i totally understand it... there arent many other places in the world where you can see the bottom of a 30 ft hole under a bluff!!
Beautiful pictures!! I love this part of the river and your pictures captured it well!
Thanks!!!!!
The images are beautiful!
No wonder the Jacks Forks river is known as the Mozart of rivers - it is so scenic, and a photographers dream come true. I hope to see it for myself one day when I get the opportunity.
By the way which camera did you use to shoot the photos?
Upvoted and following for more.

This is some astonishing scenery! What kind of fish can you catch?
All kinds! We have large and smallmouth bass, Goggle eye, lots of sunfish...and even freekin' channel catfish!! I didn't know there were catfish in the jacks until a friend of ours caught on on @johnbutler's family land a few weeks ago!
Great photos and very nice view I like it.
Thanks man!!
