Hi steemit chefs!!
How is it going?? A new week has come and a new round of Steemit Iron Chef is here!!
This time it’s turn for my beloved grapes… I don’t eat them very often, although I like them a lot. And I think they like me too.
They are the source of one of the best beverages created by mankind. WINE.
They are sweet, small and easy to eat (if we forget the painfull seeds)
Here in Spain we have a tradition involving grapes. By new year’s eve, when the clock reaches 12, we eat one grape per second, following the clock in Puerta del Sol (Madrid). It’s a really funny moment, with the mouth completely full of grapes, the laghther and joy of beeing starting a new year.
That is called “Las campanadas”. If you have the chance to live the experience, It might be interesting. But coming back to our dish, this time I go with a funny desert:
Jelly grapes in a mint sauce
This is a very fun recipe to do with children. Is very easy and funny to see how it becomes jelly and the weird movements it does when you move it. It’s sweet, but it hasn’t a lot of sugar, it’s cheap, and it’s vegan!
Ingredients:
For the mint sauce
The only tedious part is to cut the grapes in halves and get rid of the seeds.
Once this is done, just heat the water and juice with the cinnamon stick and sugar. Disolve the jelly powder apart. When it boils, take out the foam and add it.
Mix well and cool down.
Before it is room temperatura mix with the grapes and put it in the fridge.
Fort the sauce, the process is the same, but changing the cinnamon for mint leaves and the orange for lemon. We add less gelatin, so the sauce is still a thick liquid.
Just boil everything untill it reduces by half and strain.
When it’s almost cold, chop some mint and mix well.
It goes well with any other fruits, this time I used some mango to complement this lovely and healthy dessert.
The recipe is easy to do, but complex in flavours. You have the grapes. You have lemon and orange reminders. The cinnamon. The mint… jelly texture versus the grapes…Is a great dish, very interesting.
One week more thanks to @progressivechef for organice this contest, and to the sponsors!! We will keep posting!!

I would like to try that! I would never have thought of anything like that! I like your New Year's tradition, too. I hope I remember that for next year! :D
Your new year tradition seems really fun my friend! 12 grapes in the mouth in the first 12 seconds!!! I would love to experience this one day!
