[Steemit Hunt] CodeCombat - Learn to code by playing an RPG game

in #steemit-hunt8 years ago (edited)

CodeCombat combines a game engine and a transpiler to provide the most effective way for beginners to learn how to code.

Background

There's no denying that coding is an important skill that more people around the world want to pick up. And there's many different solutions for anyone with the time and the money to learn, such as Codeacademy, which provides a transpiler and quizzes, Treehouse, which provides online videos, and Devbootcamp, which offers in-person bootcamp sessions.

CodeCombat is unique in its approach because it combines an RPG game with introductory coding principles. The game claims to provide users 85% of what you'd learn in the first two Introduction to Computer Science courses at Stanford in about 40 hours of gameplay.

Why would you want to use it?

I've been using the product for the past few weeks as a novice coder that wants to learn how to build myself a curation bot on Steemit. If you're a kid or adult that wants to pickup coding, CodeCombat is worth checking out. They also offer an enterprise version of the game that they sell to schools, so if you're a teacher interested in teaching your students how to code, CodeCombat may also be for you.
