Having devoted nearly twenty years of my life to the study of genocide, I sadly concluded that the Declaration, which was the world's response to the Holocaust, has utterly failed mankind.
I spoke to a large group of Winnipeg high school students in 2005...the topic was "What have we learned from the Holocaust?" My answer, after discussing every genocide since WWII, was "nothing." The Declaration was and is nothing but bafflegab - or, in today's parlance, a nothingburger.
I understand where your coming from on the Declaration.
but
When I leaned that Citizens were not entitled to human rights only privileges, I denounced my citizenship and claimed my human rights.
By consenting to be a Citizen you forfeit your human rights in exchange for privileges with limited rights and freedoms.
Don't Give up, learn your rights, nothing more powerful.
Now, don't get me going on the manufactured Holocaust.
I am thankful for knowing my rights.

I don't think it was the Declaration but the people in Government (Ministers in Canada) (Govenors in USA) that were suppose to uphold these rights.
We as individuals need to hold them accountable for trespassing our fundamental rights/human rights.

"manufactured Holocaust?" Here is my response, 20 years in the making, to folks who make statements like that: http://www.nizkor.org
There was not even close to 10 million Jews there.
