@steemingit40 is a platform built on the initiative of @thot2word and @toriasunshine to help fellow minnows who post good and original content to grow in Steemit community.
Work so far:
•The first step that was taken to make this initiative a reality was the creation of a community for pre-steemians (people interested in joining Steemit) and steembies (new steemians) on whatsapp (https://chat.whatsapp.com/EPTXwqCrymOBkkN7IJqw1F).
The aim of this is to help minnows understand the schematics of Steemit, our general community terminology and rules. Also to teach and encourage them to create interesting, original and quality content. Generally to help newbies find their grounds on Steemit.
• We created a second whatsapp community for fellow minnows who have some level of understanding of Steemit community (https://chat.whatsapp.com/CHSVOZiWIgL6Nq5qZK3RKH). 
Here teamwork is highly promoted. This was done by creating a hash tag #steemingit40 and encouraging them to support good content with upvotes and comments. Many members have tapped into this initiative and we have about 65 members.
•Another way we have implemented to encourage fellow minnows to create and post good content is by creating a Selfie Contest titled ONE UNIQUE THING ABOUT ME. The steemian with the best content in this contest wins 2sbd. The turn up for the contest has been great so far.
•We also brought up a challenge to promote fun titled High School Joke Challenge with the hash tag #highschooljoke. So far, we have had some wonderful entries.
Challenges encountered:
•Funds have been somewhat of a setback. Progress with donations have been quite slow. We chose to tackle this as best as we can by participating in some contests like yours in a bid to win some funds for this project.
•We have had a few issues in gaining enough publicity for our platform but we will keep pushing because as the saying goes, "a tree always starts with a seed". We have dedicated members who share the same vision with us and are helping with this challenge by posting about steemingit40 on their blogs.
Why we should get 500sp delegation and what we will do with it.
• We should win 500sp because we have a dream to further encourage minnows from all over the world who are on Steemit community. This we will do by promoting and upvoting their original and quality content. Steemit is one community that advocates quality content and frowns greatly upon plagiarism which is a rampant problem in the world at large.
• We also have a plan to promote upcoming artistes, artists, writers and talents in general in a world where raw talent is overlooked. Studies have shown that motivation pushes people beyond their limits, so we hope to be that cataclysmic entity behind the making of great and productive Steemians in the community. Such who share the same vision with us.
