We stand on the precipice of history in the making. With an impending doom our STEEM community has been awoken and with it many previously inactive users have returned to show support how they can. Even people that have never used our platform have shown support by raising awareness on Social Media.

I have seen how a swarm of people can cause a scene and enact change, this is our opportunity! Not only to take back our platform but to enact changes which will take us into the next leg of governance on DPOS blockchains. Should we make the needed changes(I may not know exactly what those should be) we will set ourselves ahead of the competition especially if recovering from this take over! Not only will we prove the strength of our community but we will prove the integrity of our blockchain by recovering and proving to be even further battle tested!

Have you ever wondered why Bitcoin remains market dominant? My best guess is decentralization to which cost to take control is hindered by those whom believe in its future HODLing for dear life. The same can be said for STEEM with the difference of governance being community elected representatives. Now with minor adjustment to the chain a solution can be had but we must be willing to consider all options even if hindering our ability to control moving further into true consensus. We need to give up our controls to the code and develop it to secure our investments from future take overs!

Having been called to action and being sick I am finding it difficult to be effective, my medium of communication is video and that be complicated by my watering eyes and sniffles 🤧. Immediately after taking this shot the title popped into my head and a vlog topic suiting for @TheyCallMeDan’s “Why Am I Still Here” initiative relating how being sick only further emphasizes the points of why am I here!

Three aspects come together to explain why I am still here:

• My reason for searching out a distraction from life.
• What I did when starting here.
• What I have taken away.

Distraction

In short as I have explained this many times, I landed here looking for a distraction from my buddy Tristan Watterworth’s passing. It was tough for me having made a pact with him to not leave this world on our own accord 😇 accidents happen with medications but he was on a destructive path and I was his lifeline as he was mine. I started preying and meditating for the first time in my life and I felt like the big crypto movement was slapping me in the face. I remembered an old project having earned BTC for click-ads long lost and started mining and investigating the technology. Money brought me into crypto but not being able to mine STEEM made me curious why. I started here with a mission to be a witness myself and I sit now on the verge of being one having purchased a physical system all funded by the platform... the entire journey has been one of situations lining up perfectly and myself acting as a follower... I honestly believe I landed where I have always meant to be!

What I Did

I started with trying to post with slim results like most. Discovering community in PALnet I found examples of how to create better content and engage with others finally being discovered. Then I learned how to leverage services and realized the best route forward was by starting my own community. I desperately wanted to do video content which led me to DTube and I started @OneLoveDTube with @DNews to support creators and the platform alike. Through supporting others I found the support and encouragement I desired and needed to then be motivated in taking the next steps in my content creation. So many little aspect came together all at once, again as if meant to be, I finally found something I never knew before... a therapeutic outlet.

What I Have Taken Away

This is very personal and nothing to do with rewards. I have discovered myself, I have taken away the ability to deal with life’s stresses through writing. I have worked through much of my emotional bullshit and for the first time that I can remember no longer struggle with my depression. No longer does anxiety get the better of me. No longer do I punish myself for things outside my control. I have taken away myself from this platform and with that I owe myself to the platform.

Why Am I Still Here?

Everything I have experienced in the last 2 years on STEEM has proven to me the necessity of being a part of something bigger then myself. Our community is just that. From initiatives like this to support on content not well received elsewhere, the strength of our community is astounding. Even if my personal legacy is lost to time I am hopeful for our platform being a lasting presence changing the basis of earnings for content creators long into the future.

I have a sense of obligation for having been healed, though I did it myself without STEEM incentives it may never have happened...

That is why I remain on STEEM - Money has nothing to do with it any longer! I have been here longer then I have held most jobs, longer then I have stuck with anything not mandatory. This could be considered my very first creative passion and no body forgets their first of anything ❤️ ultimately the message of the community I founded stays it all...
