Let's face it, our ocean is polluted with vast amount of plastic, and you know I am not even exaggerating. It is indeed a huge problem and it requires a huge solution indeed to solve it.
Introducing The Ocean Cleanup! This innovative social engineering product utilizes the wave currents to get rid of plastic in the sea. It works by acting as one massive artificial boundary which would gather all floating plastics and carry them through tidal waves to a central tower. The central tower then would be in charge of sorting and recycling of the collected plastics. It is actually so efficient that according to the computer stimulation, about 50% of Great Pacific Garbage Patch could be reduced in 5 years of full-scale deployment. Not only that, the team also aimed to sell all those recycled products in order to achieve self-sustainability to pay for the whole system to work.
This is definitely one of the coolest social innovation I have seen in a while!

Plastic is indeed a tricky material; it's both amazing because it's cheap to produce and that can lower the costs of many products significantly but, it's also horrible because it's hard to degrade and people throw it away all the time. A self-sustainable ocean cleaning solution sounds ideal for sure, let's hope they manage to make it happen.

Obviously the pollution in sea is massively increasing and its so good to know these projects are taking step to move towards the problem and trying to solve it. All in all love the concept of the technology , it is innovative . Just Great
Our seas are truly polluted. People in Africa can relate very well. With this, i think our seas will be a nice place to look at considering this will take the dirt to a specific place. Nice hunt!

Great hunt @plokmi This is a good initive to clean up the ocean from being polluted by garbage. These garbages are harming the environment and ocean lifes eco system. We should have more of this creative innovation in our ocean.
A great solution for cleaning the poluted oceans. Lets hope it the entire project is going to be funded for a long while.

I first heard about this project on a Joe Rogan podcast. It is without a doubt the biggest experiment in environmental cleanup in history. I'm super excited about it and cannot wait for it to succeed and to be ramped up.
I love the sea/ocean and anything that can help clean it from the plastic the fish are choking on is fantastic news.
The whole tehnological aspect of this product is impressive.

Hello, plastic is a very dangerous waste for the environment, everyone should stop using plastic in daily life. Everyone knows how plastic made our land poor in humorous. It's not about us it's about what we deliver to the next generation....stop using plastic
