Fans of inventor and electricial engineer Nikola Tesla will love oneTesla's do it yourself musical Tesla coil kit.
The kit, priced at $399, is only approximately 7" tall but can produce electrical sparks close to two feet in length. The DIY Musical Tesla Coil comes equipped with both a USB port and a MIDI port and can play music via a USB card or MIDI instrument.
The North American version produces 110 volts of electricity while the international version produces 220 volts.
Regardless of voltage, this gadget is sure to be a conversation starter and is a must have for fans of Nikola Tesla and DIY enthusiasts.
oneTesla, a company founded by MIT students, has garnered support from both Richard Branson and Mark Cuban. The company has seen an enormous demand for their products and has since left MIT. More information on oneTesla can be found here.
This gadget, although awesomely futuristic, will require assembly and in order to properly assemble it you will need a soldering iron and other tools. More information on assembly can be found on oneTesla's product page.
The company also offers a forum in which customers can discuss issues and get assistance if stuck when assembling the coil.
See it in action here!
For $399 the oneTesla DIY Musical Tesla coil kit should be a fan favorite and a definite conversation piece.
Happy hacking!

Hi @nicknyr,
Thanks for your hunt. I’ve reviewed and approved it. The hunt is on.
I absolutely love Tesla coils and Tesla coils' music!
But I have to wonder how much would you be paying for the electricity bill if you played the whole Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack ha ha ha ha.
And oh wow, 400 USD for a Tesla Coil, man that's a great deal if I had the money I would do it in a heartbeat. Thanks for sharing.
Yeah I thought this was amazing when I found it. Might lead to some scary electric bills though. But then again, on the website it says it's power consumption is "200 watts nominal". I'm no electrical engineer but 200 watts doesn't sound too crazy.
Yeah, me neither but it sounds pretty reasonable, maybe looks too power hungry because it's like actually electricity rays spawning from it.
