Hunter's comment

I am in India at the moment and the southern state of kerela is experiencing extreme floods that have killed 300 people and left nearly 300k people homeless. The infrastructure has also been demolished with no electricity in many areas. Today's hunt is based on that.

Zephyr Solar is a photovoltaic balloon and generator that can be deployed in areas hit by natural disasters. The balloon uses water to inflate and can capture solar energy 50m above ground. A cable at the bottom connects it to energy storage.

Brilliant innovation and extremely useful. Do check it out.

A balloon with solar panels. Now why haven't I thought of that? :)

I like how they transmit the captured solar energy through the cable to the eneregy storage on the ground. As was already said this would be very helpful for natural disasters.

Yeah, i wondered why was this not thought of earlier but that can be thought about a lot of innovations.

Looks like this could really be a great tool to generate solar energy in the event of a natural dissater. Although I am always a bit skeptical about such innovation that do not have any working prototype. Nobody knows if it would really work that well in reality.

I just watched the video from the page and this hunt seems very great! This would have helped a lot of the people who suffered in Puerto Rico's disaster for example. Awesome Hunt!

Yes absolutely, its useful in any natural disaster, as most power infrastructure is destroyed during such cases.

This can really be a problem solver for electric power needs, awesome, your hunt is very useful, keep hunting!

The concept behind this seems pretty awesome. I wish you could explain a little bit more about it so I could get a better understanding of just how exactly it works and how it could help people on the ground in need of assistance

Frankly its a solar panel that one can deploy in the air to power disaster hit areas on the ground. Should work like any other typical solar panel, convert heat to dc current and then convert that to ac. The website doesn't give more details.

How its helping is that medical care units in such areas have electricy. If its hot, one can install portable coolers and water purifiers in medical camps and provide relief from heat. Communication can be easier.

Zephyr solar will be in future very important things for the people. because of that it will use on floods and any other disaster for the helping to people. I know it can be very good for backwards country.

Such a cool idea. I'm not exactly sure how it works, but looking at that picture makes me think of aliens coming to invade. Seems like it has potential to help those who need it.

Well done on this hunt, the usefulness of this will be so great in the Caribbean where I'm from. It gets brutalised by hurricanes almost every year.
One of the major things that get destroyed during a hurricane is the power lines (apart from your roofing). After the hurricane passes, these devices will shine so bright you'll need shades. :)

Now this is a good way to reach out to people who are facing difficulties due to nature disasters. I believe the balloon is very necessary in every state so that It can be of help when the time comes.

This hunt is great, it could save a lot of people's lives in case of emergency.

Yes, absolutely. From what is happening in Kerela, India, right now, this would have been a great thing there.

Wow this very cool. Even more cool of the first I can see, this tool is working to help people in tackling the disaster.

Thanks for commenting.

You're right about this being very useful in areas hit by natural disasters. Would you know how much energy can be generated by a single balloon?

Not sure, actually i couldn't find that. May be its in the video. I'll check and let you know.

You're right! I haven't checked out the video. I'll go watch it now. Thanks!

I'm a bot. I detect haiku.

A balloon that is very extraordinary, very useful in achieving very remote locations and aspects, hopefully this tool can be created by all countries, so that it will greatly facilitate the work of humanitarian volunteers

Yeah, that is exactly what i thought. This is so necessary in disaster hit areas.

Hi @karamyog

This hunt is really interesting. I am curious, do you know what is efficiency of such balloon?

All the best

Not sure mate, very little detail on the website and i haven't seen one on action.

Also, i need to respond to you, which i will do today. House is finally sorted.

hi @karamyog

thx for your comment. And Im sorry for such a late reply. Just had few rough days lately.
