Our own goofy rescue dog, Lolo, as a puppy.
Please help @rhondak's dog rescue #tarc if you have the means. Thank you.
This will be a post in three parts, and all SBDs rewarded, for all three parts of this post, will be donated to @rhondak's #tarc dog rescue, with the hope that others will follow the example and show her some much needed love, and help feed and vet the many dogs under her care.
For those who don't know, @rhondak runs a volunteer dog rescue from her home in Virginia, damned near singlehandedly, and could seriously use our help. She currently has forty dogs in her care, my understanding is that they are mostly larger breeds such as Walker Coonhounds, and she is paying for their care herself, without the benefit of local donations.
All of these dogs require daily feeding, proper veterinary care, to be spayed or neutered prior to adoption, and LOTS of love, time and attention.
Let's all show Rhonda how awesome the Steemit community is, and how much we appreciate her love and hard work on behalf of these dogs, and help her out, each to the best of our own ability. Thank you.
I know that #steemhunt is mostly for introducing new products, but today I would like to introduce you to a company I've loved for well over two decades now, Melaleuca.
Started in 1985, Melaleuca was the first company to import Melaleuca oil into the United States from Australia, which most of us now know as tea tree oil; an essential oil that has a myriad of uses, and has been used for many purposes by Aboriginal tribespeople for thousands of years.
I was first introduced to the company in 1990 by my friend and then-supervisor, Cindy, when I was working for a picture framing supplier about a mile and a half from my home.
One of the things I immediately liked about the company was that they were dedicated to being environmentally responsible, back in the days before we called it "green," and to leaving as small a footprint on the planet as possible.
This meant that, while not certified organic, they ethically sourced their ingredients from growers who grew naturally, without chemical fertilizers or pesticides, and who gave back to their local communities. It also meant that their products were far safer than many of those available from supermarkets, without toxic ingredients, and creating no toxic fumes from use.
Additionally, many of their products were concentrated, compared with equivalent commercial products, leading to saving money as well as maintaining a generally safer environment.
I left that company when I started my own art and framing studio, though I was right up the street, and as happens in life, I ultimately lost contact with Cindy, and Melaleuca fell off my radar.
Then, about a year and a half ago, I was reintroduced to it, thrilled to discover that they were still around, and signed up immediately.
Among the first products I had purchased from the company originally were their Renew lotion, and their tooth polish, both of which they still make, so I immediately bought them, remembering how much I liked them in the first place.
Renew lotion, in particular is awesome, as working with animals I wash my hands frequently, and it prevents my hands from becoming chapped and cracked, even in winter.
It has been clinically proven to be more effective than the most commonly recommended commercial brand, doesn't contain questionable ingredients, and my first 20-ounce bottle lasted me well over six months, and I use it several times daily. I wouldn't be without it, and personally consider it to be a great buy.
Melaleuca also offers a wide number of cleaning products, and the thing that impressed me the most is that their products are so safe and non-toxic, that even their toilet bowl cleaner does not require a child proof safety cap. I have even never heard of another company who can make that claim.
For those with small children, or animals such as I have, this is a huge concern with the majority of store-bought brands, which can be deadly if ingested, or even in some cases if simply inhaled.
And their Eco-sense line of household cleaners, which include tub and tile cleaner, shower cleaner and glass cleaner, are so concentrated that you mix two ounces in a 24-ounce spray bottle, and fill and mix with water for use.
Since each bottle of concentrate contains 8 ounces, that is enough to fill four bottles, and since they cost roughly the same as a single bottle of store-bought cleaner, the money you save can be substantial, all while making your home safer.
Melaleuca is a membership-only company, and yes there is a business opportunity associated with it, but each member has the option of signing up for the business opportunity or not, or simply signing up to purchase the products for their own personal use.
Since I've been a member since January of last year, and have yet to sign anyone up for the business opportunity, it should be clear that that is not my first my priority.
I am simply letting people know that a safer option exists, and that it is at the very least cost effective, if not cost saving, depending upon the products chosen. And the products are at least as good, and usually far better, than store bought brands.
The best part of purchasing from the company, for me, is that I'm simply diverting funds that I would otherwise be spending at the supermarket, so it is not costing me anything extra to buy better products from Melaleuca. And I do save money in the long run.
I'll be expanding on this post tomorrow, and I promise, particularly for those of us interested in green living, natural health and homesteading, it will be worthwhile.

Thanks, @cleansingpoetry. I appreciate all that @poetsunited does for poets and artists on the steemit platform.
I can't thank you enough for doing this, @crescendoofpeace. So generous of you!
You are so, so welcome!
I'm just sorry it took me so long to realize what all you are really up against where you are. It amazes me that people can reach adulthood and remain that clueless. Sigh.
It's definitely a tough go here. A few days ago I learned that the Sheriff's Office managed to identify and charge one individual for dumping a dog. The case went to court, and our wonderful General District judge fined him $25. That's an outrage. It didn't even pay the officer's salary for the time he spent putting the case together. But that's the root of the problem here--lack of appreciation by community leadership for how such things impact our society. I'll be posting more about this situation as FOIAed documents are made available to me.
Unfriggingreal.
Which just goes to show that a lot of judges shouldn't be, not that we didn't already know that.
This sort of mentality exists where I am too, but happily it is the exception, and not the rule. Not that it makes anything like this more tolerable.
I'll be interested in reading the posts once you get them out there.
