Introduction to Steemhost.com

This is not the final logo for Steemhost.com but instead consider this a toast to our future successes.

Steem Host: What Is It?

Since joining the Steem community and posting and following people, there have been a few frustrations as well as opportunities that I have seen. While I am interested in the posts that the entire community offers, there are some specific people who I follow (so have bookmarked them individually) but also want to promote (so have resteemed them on occasion). Additionally there are specific posts I have read or created and wanted to bookmark for future reference.

How does a visitor access a hosted site?

If one wants to visit a hosted site, it is simply a question of entering www.steemhost.com/@dwarrilow2002 (substituting my ID with the host of your choice). Currently there are only a couple of hosts configured ... but as time progress more hosts will be available. You can visit the site with your ID and will see your posts but will not have the hosting functions available.

Basic Menu Options

The basic menu options are Host, Contributor. These options will appear or change depending upon the host profile. As we increase the functionality of the site additional options will appear. The labels are controlled by the Host. For instance my preferences are a follows:

resulting in these options:

Visitor Menu Options

Visitors to a hosted page initially will not see options available to them. To access these options there is a message that allows the user to authenticate via steemconnect. * * * This does not have any special meaning for the STEEM environment * * * All this will do is to say that this is a STEEMIAN (hopefully encouraging people to join) and give them access to activities and reports that we will generate on our site. Once a visitor is authenticated it adds these options:

one again the "host" may alter the appearance of these options

Bookmarks

Bookmarks allows a visitor to select posts for future review. To add a bookmark just click on the star to the right of the post. To review select the bookmark option and find the post. To remove it from your list - just uncheck it.

Favourite Hosts

The favourite hosts is an option to bookmark several hosts. People group themselves together and identify themselves by using one of the tags (eg. teamcanada, teamaustralia etc). Hosting will allow groups to come together and promote themselves on a single platform. A visitor might have several groups (represented by a single host) they are interested in. The Favourite hosts allows the visitor to add and remove hosts from their list.

which allows the user to select between hosts on their menu bar.

Redirect Site

The purpose of SteemHost is not to take away from steemit.com or busy.org. It purpose is to add to it. While steemhost shows a listing of recent posts, it does not have the options of vote, resteem etc. We want people to engage with the complete content of the posts on either of those sites.

Once the visitor selects their preferred site (default steemit ... sorry busy bodies) when a link is pressed, it opens into the post on the preferred site. From there visitor may vote, resteem etc.

More of what steemhost has: The Search

Over the last few months I have posted over 1000 posts (1421 so far). During that time my posts have had many pearls of wisdom (I can hear people falling off of their chairs ... is that laughter from disbelief?). However when I am on steemit.com and do a search ... I can never find what I have posted. The search function on steemhost.com constrains the returns to those of the posts to the host or contributors (or bookmarked).

What's to come

We follow the principle of continuous improvement. Everyday I can think of new features and improvements. If one waits until everything is complete ... it will never launch.

  • Cosmetics: I never wear it myself but I suppose it is important on a website
  • New pages:
Our existing pages satisfy two types of people:
1 - A person who is only interested in promoting their own blog, steemhost can be constrained to the My Blog page.
2 - Those wanting to promote their friends can turn on the contributors page and select the users that you want to promote.
A third set of people may want to create an online magazine selecting specific posts from multiple users.
  • A method to increase your earning potential
We are currently working on a method to increase the earning potential for the hosts as well as the visitors to the site. I am very excited by the potential benefit to the steem community ... Stay tuned!!!

Hello friend I've been reading and I love it very much, I hope to understand it a little more I think it's a good project on your part.

Do you have a number of people you share commonalities with? Perhaps other Venezuelan contributors. Can you send the usernames of 1/2 dozen?

Maybe yes, give me a gmail or discord contact?

Just a few names eg @acostaeladio, @cervantes, @sancho.panza etc. Perhaps a couple members of your cervantes collection.

Good morning @dwarrilow2002, I have two groups in Discord, I can present the Steemhost project, but I need more information

We are about a week away before we will be able to have people sign up to become hosts but would appreciate you communicating the concept.

Steemhost will allow people to aggregate contributors ("Host" a party) with similar interests. For instance I added a few contributors to @eljose27 's steemhost page.

The initial page "Host.aspx" initially appears as but could be relabeled to My Posts or Editorial (or el artículo de fondo) depending upon what label the host wants to display. This page only shows the host's (eg eljose27) posts. The most important feature on this page is that it allows a person to search for post that they may have made previously. For instance, I searched for "steem power" on your steemhost page and found 3 posts (May 3, August 18, August 17). On a personal level I have started using this feature a number of times when I want to track down posts that I made 6 months ago.

A second feature happens when a visitor logs in using steemconnect. This allows our system to let users bookmark posts and bookmark favourite hosts.

  • There are a few pages, which I frequently return to. When I click on the star, they get added to my favourite posts (Bookmarks).
  • Having Favourite Hosts allows a user to quickly go to his posts but also see content contributed by people the host find interesting.

The second page of interest is the "Contributor.aspx". This too the "Host" can relabel. It could be Contributor, Collaborator, Columnist, Columnista, Periodista (Sorry I don't speak Spanish). This page has the same search feature as the host page ... however it will scan through each contributors content.

My ultimate goal is to allow people to create their own online magazines... which leads to the third page which is under development. This page would allow the host to select specific posts to be showcased. Jose (@eljose27) has been writing a series of short stories in the "horror" genre. He might showcase his best as well a the best stories written by other authors. It would constrain the list to only those that he would have selected. There are several competitions going on in the steem community. This would allow hosts to create anthologies of these competitions.

The final aspect has to do with introducing the potential to earn additional revenue into the system. The posts that we list on the site open in either steemit.com or busy.org. This will allow people to vote, resteem etc. People will still receive their rewards for authorship and curation. However on steemhost, we want to given an opportunity that has been missed for two other actions. Currently you are rewarded if you author a post, and if you curate posts. There is no reward for people resteeming or reading the posts. Steemhost is a way is similar to resteeming. You draw attention to other people's posts on your blog by resteeming their content. The final aspect will look at increasing the earning potential of both hosts and visitors to their sites.

If you have specific questions, it would be easier to provide you with information.

There is still a long way to go on our side but this will illustrate what we are hoping for:

Contributors

Searching for a phrase "pregunté a mi padre" will search through your contributors posts and pull up all that match.

That's a good project you've got going forward, buddy.

Your post is very helpful for me. I want to join steemhost. This is a very good way to earn huge money from steemit. Thanks for your post. I am waiting for your next post.

In a couple of days there will be a link to allow a limited number of people to become a host. What I would suggest is to compile a list of people with similar interests on steem. For instance you are interested in photography. If you have a group of people who also post photos, you would be similar in appearance to this website:
https://www.outdoorphotographer.com/
While the cosmetics of outdoorphotographer exceeds the layout that your own group would currently have ...

steemhost.com/@n0man (does not have any of the additional text or images enabled)

steemit.com/@n0man

busy.org/@n0man

we will be altering the template (perhaps have a selection of templates) to display your content as well as contributors who you might select. This would allow you to create your own "Outdoor Photography Magazine" perhaps specific to Bangladesh.
