This event (pictured) is called the Big Flo. 2012 deliberate crash of a Boeing 727. They packed it full of crash test dummies (e.g., some belted, others not) and other instruments, then sent it into the Mexican desert. It resulted in greater knowledge of what happens in a plane crash.
that may be true for the airplane on the GIF but not for the event I was looking for.
