This is a brief update on our trip to Lisbon.
Last week 3 members of @steem-dublin were in Lisbon for the second annual Steemit global meetup.
Day 1 The Hackathon
Several people, including our own @demotruk entered the Hackathon. The winning app was a prototype created by @martibis.
The Hackathon took place at the LX factory an arty area well worth a visit if your in Lisbon.
Day 2 and 3
@demotruk and me @eroche attended talks and discussions where 30+ speakers presented projects, initiatives and future plans and the vision for Steemit Inc. this was a great opportunity to meet some of the 300 other delegates from all over the world. If you haven't seen it already you can see the talks via the Steemfest YouTube channel. Inspirational, positive and full of potential sums up the few days but there are many posts about the event if you want to read more, just check out the #steemfest tag.
Day 4 and 5
Day 4 was a tourism day where we went to visit the city but we finished it with a visit to the LX factory where the steemit art exhibition was taking place. Our very own @mitchhunter had work on display.
Steemit
There was such positive energy and the most creative and talented group of people I have ever met present that I came away with the feeling that there is something very special about this project. The future is bright for Steemit.
There was a lot of talk about SMT tokens, which will be a first on the Steem Blockchain, and the presentation by the developers on the level of performance of the core technology as well as it's scaling plans was jaw dropping stuff. The tech here is second to none.
In all there was 7 people from Ireland in Lisbon. I would highly recommend attending next year if you can go, it was a special experience and great fun.
Hi guys, It was fun talking to @ishtar @demotruk and @eroche when we sat for a break at the coffee shop at LX Factory. Hope @steem-dublin & @steem-quebec work together in building local activities.
Wooo! Go @steem-dublin! You guys had 7 reps in Lisbon, that's amazing. I think everyone had an great time. I have yet to hear a horror story about Steemfest.
The future is bright with Steemit and I'm looking forward to seeing more from you guys in the future.
Great stuff. Good to see the Irish represented as I have heard lots of positives from people who have attended.
It was great to meet you guys in Lisbon, even if it was only briefly. But maybe I might make it out to one of the meetups in Dublin soon!
That would be great. Keep us posted on activities in mayo too.
I'll definitely keep you updated :)
