Happy Thursday to all you Steemians out there!

SOURCE

In case you missed it, I announced a few days ago that my Dad and I were going to Steemfest - you can see that post here - Big Announcement! Gringa's going to Steemfest 2017

Well my Dad is pretty much the travel agent in the family and he has been planning a lot for this trip because it's a big deal. In his search for how to get us to Lisbon, every flight had a layover is some other major city. For example, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, or London. So, my Dad surprised me with a 2 night stay in London before we go to Lisbon. I am so excited you guys!! I've never been to Europe and now I get to tour 2 great cities.

We will be in London on the 30th and 31st of October. We have not booked the hotel in London yet, any ideas?

I have lived in London for near 20 years now.

Depends your price range for a hotel?

They have the fancy hotels, then ones like Travel Lodge and Holiday Inn.

For most tourists they tend to stick around London Underground Zone 1.

You have a huge selection in central London, the West End, then towards Queensway, up towards to Notting Hill on the west direction from Oxford Street.

Off Oxford Street you have Tottenham Court Road which can take you towards Covent Garden and Russell Square near Euston.

Just up from Euston you have the mighty Camden Town.

To me Camden`s the best area in London. All kinds of walk of people there from the poor to the mega rich. Camden has big spacious markets there, lots of places to eat with bars and live music too. They have 2 beautiful parks there as well Regents Park next to London Zoo and Primrose Hill where some of the rich and famous live.

In Russell Square you have the British Museum there, up in South Kensington you have the Natural History and Science Museums all free to get into.

At the west side of Oxford Street you have Hyde Park Corner and it`s massive park.

From the best view in London stand on the footpath on Waterloo Bridge by Somerset House in the Strand. With this beautiful view you can see like London Eye, Westminster, Big Ben when you look to the west and the east you look towards St. Paul`s Cathedral, the City and Canary Wharf.

Up by St. John`s Tube Station it is just a short walk from the Abbey Road Studios.

Fantastic info @makkizakki, wow you took a lot of time to send me this. Thanks so much. You're a great commenter!!

I know a lot about London, I am always out exploring my adopted city when I can. Your very welcome. If you need advice or help for your adventure in London, just give me a shout be happy to help you out and many thanks for the encouragement too!

It is going to be a blast - Lifelong memories!!

Huge blast. Thanks so much for making it possible @noboxes

I am so excited for you!! Next time I am going too!!

I hope so, that would be way too much fun. I wonder where it will be next year?

Awesome! See you in Lisbon! I booked myself an AirBnB instead of a hotel because I find it better to experience the local life.

That's great advice, airbnb. I'll take a look. Thanks @jeffjagoe

Yes, and with AirBnB you can get a place with a kitchen!

Have a good trip @gringalicious and look forward to your photos.

very nice adventure my friend

Awesome planning for a great trip...Have a nice moments and why not some meeting with our steemit member.

I am so excited, yes. Thanks @kouba01!

Wow, a very beautiful place,

I can't wait to see it! Thanks @marconah!

For location, look at the Travelodge London Central Covent Garden. It's not a posh hotel, but the location is great, the rooms are clean, and the price is reasonable.

I've stayed their while passing through a couple of times.

Thanks so much for that recommendation @gikitiki!

Happy holiday

I really appreciate it @jamilfian! Thanks!

That's awesome! Looking forward to meeting you and your dad in Lisbon! For a hotel in London, I'd recommend the QBic London City, but that's maybe personal taste :)

Great suggestion, I will for sure check it out. And, I look forward to meeting you in Lisbon @fitzgibbon

Wow, I am looking forward to your stories of the Harry Potter scenery :D See you at Steemfest :D:D:D

Ah, so cool, another Harry Potter fan? I can't wait. I'll be taking a gazillion photos.

My girlfriend, @things, is more of a fan actually, however I started to reading the series for the first time now! Currently reading the third book!

Are you on Pottermore too and stuff? haha

Oh my goodness! How fun! I wish I could go too!

Maybe next year?

That is so awesome! I wish I could go!

Too bad you're not, really, I mean that. Well, maybe next year. As @hanshotfirst said, you can live vicariously through me, if you like

Yeah I'm going to have to! Hahah. Hopefully next year it will be in the United States. That makes it a lot more feasible to go to!

I understand. Lisbon was a bit challenging to book a reasonable fare. My Dad had to end up with booking a bunch of one-ways to get us there at a decent price. Who knows, maybe next will be in the U.S.

Going to Europe would be cool for sure but this time around I can't do it. i think they are talking about doing it in Austin next time around which would be really cool.

Autsin would be cool. That is one spot in Texas I have not been yet. I hope it's in November because I cannot stand the summer in Texas. Although, you probably like it, am I right?

It kind of depends where in Texas it is and what is going on. I'm sure boating on a lake in Texas would be cool! Summer in Arizona can be brutal unless you are at one of the swimming spots in the mountains.

Thanks so much @itsallasong. Maybe next year, you can go with us

Oh that is awesome news. I hope you have a wonderful trip and have a lot of fun while you are there. So jealous here, huge Harry Potter fan too. Can’t wait for all your great updates about your trip.

That is so sweet @beccadeals. Thanks so much for the support and you can be guaranteed, many photos coming your way

Great I will watch for them after your return and rest. Have a great and safe trip.

try to watch the play "harry potter and the cursed child" while in London!
What an awesome surprise, you'll definitely have a lot of fun in Europe!

Hey @sirwinchester. Don't you have a castle in London? Or is that in Whales? Ok, "harry potter and the cursed child", I will look that up. My Dad already mentioned a stage play, so we'll see what happens.

Yes!

I am so stoked about SteemFest 2 and I am honored to be speaking there this year.

I am very excited to meet everyone there and especially people such as you!

Congrats! See you Soon!

SteemON!

Yeah, I saw that you're a speaker. I'll make sure to attend that one. Stoked, yeah me too!

Steem Fest Here We Come!

Full Steem Ahead~*~

How fun! I am so happy for you plus what a cool surprise! You have an awesome dad! Lisbon is one of my favorite cities in the world! I was so out of my mind stoked when I found out Steemfest was going to be there this year! Unfortunately, I have some other plans that came up during the time it's going on plus you know, the volcano ;) JK.

Have a great time! I had the time of my life when I was in Portugal and the food was just incredible ;) You'll love it!

Thanks so much for the telling me how much you loved Portugal. I have to admit, of my list of places I would want to visit in Europe, Lisbon did not make the top 10. That's is totally due to the fact that I know nothing about it. So, I am excited about clearing up my ignorance. Andy, yeah, my Dad is pretty cool. Again, thanks so much for the awesome comment @heart-to-heart

I have a confession... when I was growing up my dad had a friend who owned a villa in the Azores off the coast of Portugal so he asked us my whole life to go visit there for free and every time my dad tried to plan that trip, I refused to go as I was just completely uninterested!

I only ended up there because it was CHEAP TO FLY TO FROM PARIS LMAO! I was really upset about having to go but I was on a budget and it made the most sense to fly into it to get to Spain. Out of my whole Euro trip, it was my favourite so do give it a chance, sounds like you're more excited now ;)

Make sure to go to the beach! <3

Oh, I intend to give it a chance for sure. Thanks so much for the encouragement

Your dad is a pretty kind guy! I cannot wait to see all the photos from your sightseeing!! Before I go to a new city I always do a google search on the 'best cheap eats' there. I find that you end up with really delicious food that the locals eat, that you can't find elsewhere. Woooo!

Great idea on the 'best cheap eats.' My Dad has been there and he agrees with they saying that the English have no taste buds, LOL. We'll see. Actually, I haven't even thought about the food until now. My focus has been on all the very cool history and new architecture that London has to offer. I am going to need to get some more SD cards for my camera. Thanks so much for the awesome comment @jaymorebeet

This was a great post. Thank you for sharing. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for you future work!
