I've been excited for the past couple of weeks as @roelandp worked hard to get a fix on the venue and dates for @steemfest 2017. I had to keep my mouth shut about the location and all and it wasn't easy! Thank you Roeland for coming out with the details. Not sure how much longer I could have kept it to myself!
Agenda
Last year we had a great run after Roeland let me into his team to help execute some ground level tasks. When he discussed the possibility of holding a conference in Amsterdam, I knew Steemit has a special ingredient that can never be replicated! Months later we saw a mega successful meetup resulting in ~200 delegates from 35+ countries and it was proof that we are a special platform!
Credit to its success goes to all the sponsors, participants and everyone who promoted the event and helped us.
This year I'll be there to help Roeland in whatever way I can to make our event hugely successful. Roeland has been planning for months and has everything down. We have 5 months to go and we can certainly achieve the following:
- Have twice as many active participation in the Hackathon + 2 days of conference compared to last year.
- Excellent live coverage of the event without any issues.
- Smoother check-ins for last minute entries (we had quite a few).
- Exciting outdoor plans that will give you a great taste of all that Lisbon has on offer.
- More personalised than last year with a slightly bigger team to help all the attendees!
- Uber cool Steemit Memorabilia that your neighbourhood will be jealous of forever!
- Great videos and pictures.
- Lots more!

Last year I led a small team for Roeland and offered my assistance to realize his and our community's dream of putting together a fantastic show! We helped him along with his friend Freddie to put a great event together! Roeland made sure everything was well planned and organised from the go!

This year I hope to see my crew from last year consisting of @sjennon @foxxycat @razvanelulmarin @anduweb @anyx come back again to SteemFest 2.
Having said that, there will be extra slots (further details will be announced later on) as we need extra hands on deck.

I have a lot of Indian people in san diego for u to connect with! very large and wealthy indian neighborhoods here in La jolla and other north county san diego areas...I used to drive this one indian businessman from coronado to LAX for cheap...
Hey i have a question about the steemfest! ddo they pay for plane tickets for any steemit user who can go but cant afford ticket or hotel etc? like they may prodice a couch to crash on? I have a paralyzed neighbor who im getting to join steemit and a vietnam war vet whose getting older and i want him to be able to see Japan one last time to visit his martial arts masters gravesit once before he died....
Would be interesting to hold a steemit program in LA for sure!
Regarding @t-r-f It's a small pool funded by many users like me from which the steemit tokens are distributed to those who really need it based on the miles travelled and the number of users demanding from the pool. You can apply when you arrive and check-in at SF2 if you or your friend really need it. Although you could probably expect 10-20% reimbursement if there are a LOT of people flying in and demanding reimbursement.

just cool to tell someone "This website will pay for your plane ticket!" hah
we should have a lottery here where we raffle off an all expense paid vacaction to some over worked deserving peopel who need it , stuff like taht will get us on the local news, i heard them talking about steemit on my local am kogo radio station here in san diego a month back!
And i am gonna get on the news with my steemit ferrarii stunt handng out $1 bills and steemit singup brochures
haha! Well who knows, someone might even host such a thing later this year. :D

Do some trades during the next few moons and then get yourself a cheap ticket and come. There is @t-r-f but use it if you must!
Just want to amend on this that the @t-r-f account can only be seen as a 'nice to have' gesture from fellow community members donating towards it and then redistributing it evenly to attendees. You can certainly not count on it to be covering your complete travel trip. Last year it was quite well funded and therefore it had paid out (on average) 33% of every persons trip (concluding from my rough comparison). Also @t-r-f registration occurs on-site and payouts will only occur after the event :)
NONETHELESS follow @firepower's tips ride a few nice waves and see you in Portugal :)
