Looking For Advice // Post Steemfest Travel - Prague, Vienna or Berlin??

in #steemfest6 years ago (edited)

Hi Friends!

For anyone who read my Steemfest freewrite challenge that I did a few weeks ago, you know that the finances of flying over to Europe was a bit of a strain/mental block. I am stoked because I’ve been seeing some cheaper flights come up and I am feeling super positive about being able to officially say that I am going!

Ps… if you are planning to go to Steemfest – You should check out the freewrite initiative by @anomadsoul. He’s providing a really awesome space for Steemfest attendees to get to know each other better. Check out the latest freewrite challenge HERE.

In this video, I chat about a few different potential travel routes I might take and am posing a question for those of you who live and/or have travelled through Eastern Europe. I’m thinking of spending a few extra days in either Prague, Vienna or Berlin. I’d love to hear your thoughts on which city might be the best for a solo traveler.

Speaking of that…. What are people doing after or before Steemfest?? Are there pockets of people that will be traveling around? I havn’t bought my ticket yet becaue I’m trying to figure out some of those details. Which is why I SUPER appreciate your feedback and help!! Feel free to add any other destinations in there. The only pre-req is that it has to be cheap to get there from Krakow, and cheap to get back to London. :)

Love you guys!! <3

XO, Lea

Greetings, beautiful and dear Coruscate

Unfortunately, by geographic and financial distance, I will not go to steemfest. Of course, if I was, I would definitely meet you there. It would be an immense pleasure.

Of the cities mentioned, I think Vienna is more like you, because I think it has a more romantic atmosphere.

Changing the subject, I want to take a doubt: You alternate posting between dtube and dlive. Do this, because the dtube only 1 vote per day, right ??? Then you'd better switch. That's it, is not it ??? Are there any of the two who are most likely to receive their votes?

Thank you and good evening!!!!

Hi, you should do all :-D And some more...
Being Czech, I would recommend Prague. Unfortunately we still do not have post about Prague, but it will come... Be careful of taxi drivers, and try some local beer. Czech is really famous for cheap beer, great night life and good food.
Berlin is also nice, especially the contrast between west and east part (behind the wall) :-)
Vienna, well it is relaxed and nice city.
Also in the proximity you have Budapest, which we will post about in near future and Bratislava

All these cities has great deal to offer because they played major role in Europe history over the centuries.
I would say that 2 days stay in each of them is long enough to walk around and enjoy the local life little bit. English language is not a problem, you will find lokal people speaking English everywhere.
What is best that there is really good connection between all these cities by trains & buses. I prefer trains. Ceske Drahy operate trips between these towns for really reasonable prices.
You can also check Student Agency / Regiojet for some offers on bus / train tickets. It is well known Czech bus & train operator.
Enjoy and do not hesitate to ask more questions & let us know how your trip was...

Wow it was SO kind of you to share all of this information!! Thank you for taking the time to do that!

I’m leaning mostly towards Prague right now - so I will definitely let you know if I have questions while planning.

Thanks again! ♥️

Ooo, plane tickets booked!

I would say Prague, Vienna and Berlin are all perfectly fine for a solo traveler. I've heard great things about Prague, but they are 3 cities I've not made it to so far.

London isn't my favorite city in the world, and I'm allowed to say so being English :)

I've not thought about extending my trip, either prior to or post SF3, just focusing on making sure I get there first. Ideally, crypto moons and I can join the folks flying out to Thailand post event - that sounds pretty awesome to me!

I saw that @luzcypher was inviting people to join him in Thailand afterwards! So cool!

I’m kinda thinking I might wanna stay in Europe though to help keep costs down. Also, I’ve never been to Europe, so experiencing more of the areas around Poland seems to make sense to me. :)

I havnt officially bought tickets yet- but I probably will in the next day or two! Yay! Just gotta figure out how much I want to extend my trip.

Excited to meet you in Poland!! 😊

I think while you are 'here', I would be a shame not to catch another city or two, so good on you for looking into the options and seeing what people have to say.

Thailand would be amazing, I'm all about chasing the sun and by November it will be much lower in the sky here. It's only funds stopping me from joining the Thai after party :D

Same to you, it's gonna be a brill week!

Couldn’t agree with you more that!! It is cold and dreary where I live in November too and so I usually try to chase the sun with my travels as well.

Maybe next year Steemfest will be somewhere warm. I think Mexico could be fun. Cheap once you are there and beautiful/sunny.

Really awesome that you’re on track to go to SteemFest! I wish I had sufficient funds to make a big trip like that this year. Regardless of what you choose to do after, I hope its a crazy fun (and safe) time!

To be honest, the reason I stopped by your blog was to drop a comment because I had a question to ask - I’m taking a train to Bellingham today for the weekend, and I was wondering if you had any time in the next few days to meet up over coffee or something for a chat! I think it’s really cool that such an influential Steemian lives in my hometown and it would be cool to meet you and talk Steem. Just a crazy idea I had pop into my head, thought I’d stop by here because I don’t know how else to reach you. Cheers!

Woooah no way!! So cool that you are going to be in Bellingham. I’d love to meet up!

I’m actually down in anacortes right now for a dental surgery (can you think of anything more fun? Ugh)

Tomorrow I’m free after about 5-5:30pm and Saturday I’m actually heading down to Seattle - so I won’t be able to meet up. Sunday is totally free.

Let me know if anything works in there!

Dope!!! Tomorrow after 5 works well! Add me on Facebook, and we can discuss deets (thats the only problem with the blockchain haha, everything is public). My name on there is Adam Perkowski, my profile pic is a cat with my face photoshopped onto it. Can’t miss it.

Ah, Vienna.

Woooah just checked that post out. Amazing!!!

I have a like 8 days in Europe :( And it was super expensive.

Solo traveling is the best. I would actually suggest going to a non english speaking country over london. You'll learn so much about yourself and the world. Alternatively just stay an extra few days in Krakow, I'm sure you'll love it.

Thanks for the input on London! I’m actually starting to think the exact same thing. That maybe instead of staying in London for a few days, I should just get to Kraków a few days early and hang out there. :-)

Looking like I might do Prague after the event for a few days too. :-)

Such a bummer flights were so crazy for you! 😞

Hi! At November I think Prague looks the best solution in my opinion. In addition, as far as I remember the weather should be still warm enough and you will have the opportunity to take a walk and see the sights. In addition, you can choose what to see in Prague by viewing Travel tips of @czechglobalhosts. I hope you'll have good time in Europe!

Wow thanks so much for all of the tips!! I really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. Everything i've been looking into points to Prague and so I think that is where I'll end up going! Thanks for the great tip on the @czechglobalhosts account too!

Hi.
Since it's your first time in Europe, you pretty much cant go wrong with virtually any city. There are so, so many cities that are relatively easy to get to from where ever you are by air, road or rail.

London is huge, but there is a large Steem community here so I'm sure people will be willing to show you around, so give us a shout closer to the time.

Of the 3 cities you mentioned, the only one I've spent time in is Prague, and I can say simply, it's one of the best cities I've ever been to in Europe. Needless to say I HIGHLY recommend that.

Of course Berlin and Vienna are also awesome. These are all very old and historical cities.

Wow thanks so much for all the input @adetorrent! I really appreciate your advice on traveling in Europe and your Prague recommendation! I've pretty much decided that is where I will end up going. Everyone raves about it and it looks like such an incredible city. <3

I Live in Vienna and it will not disappoint you! GORGEOUS CITY!

I'm a bot. I detect haiku.

Oooh that is lovely! Are you thinking of attending Steemfest too? Vienna looks lovely and I wish I had more time -but I think I will be going to Prague on this trip. I hope to visit Vienna one day though! :)

Hi! I am on tour with Hans Zimmer exactly on those dates, but I might send some Viennese steemians on my behalf :-) really wish I could be there!

My pick would be Vienna! Enjoy wherever you choose to go.

Thanks for the input @enjoywithtroy!!

I would vote for Vienna out of that list. It recently beat out Melbourne, Australia for the title of most liveable city in the world.

Ooh that is super interesting! Thanks for sharing!

I have bean to Ppague and VIenna but not in Berlin. I like Prague sow much

Awesome, thanks for the input!

It's pretty cool there :)

Awe im so happy for you and hope you have a great trip @coruscate ! Sadly with trying to get power and water conected to my property before the snow flies, has me broke lol , so I will not be going to Steemfest, plus the travel hours on the plane are like 13 or 15 hrs for a lot of us so Its just to long, but I really hope to go one of these years when its hopefully closer and less travel time and expense ! as much I would love to go over seas and get a passport for the first time in my life! and meet everyone once I get settled in and Steem Sky rockets Lol! ❤😂😂😂💕👌✌
Your life really seems to be coming together and I am Soooooo Happy For You!!!
