How to solve misunderstandings ( if you own an image and get a downvote)

  1. if an image is yours but posted on another website or social media and you can prove it, contact steemcleaners to remove the downvote

  2. if an image is original and yours, posted on steemit, and you receive downvote, again. contact steemcleaners to remove that downnvote

If you don't own a picture, can't prove it is yours, either original, re-post or composite ( wallpapers , posters , banners, flyers made for example with the vector desktop programs, Photoshop composite arts, canva and pablo are composites because they are made from parts like boxes, shapes and backgrounds which are free sourced but composed into something else and original), your post will remain flagged.

This is going to hurt Steemit. I cross post and if you cannot confirm plagarism and are flagging anything that appears elsewhere, then people will leave and others wont come.

This essentially punishes the innocent because some people do bad things. That is backwards and Orwellian... I shouldnt have to cite myself and be inconvenienced because it's too much work for you to manually confirm.

I flagged your post because I think it's rubbish.

If anyone else thinks this is over-reaching, you should flag it too.

At the very least, this post should have been set to decline payout.

This is what they say, not me. I informed all of my members on server and other servers what they are doing.
In general I am against flagging and against any sort of punishing ppl.
You are entitled to your opinion about this, but if you want to change @steemcleaners you should post this on their blog, not mine. I am not the one who is flagging.

Gotcha my friend, flag removed. I didn't get from your post that you are just relaying a message. You might want to make that clear.

ok, no problem, I am paranoid as F, trust me, one of my ppl lost great deal because of this, today we were loaning $ to him to pay Uni, I don't want these things, this is terrible.
Brief me to EDIT something, I am not native English and I was disturbed when I was writing so I forgot to add a few crucial information.

Your first three sentences should be changed to; Important- a must read to avoid flags from Steemcleaners! Note: We are not related to Steemcleaners.

Just a suggestion, but anything saying you are not Steemcleaners will do.

Done! I added the change. Thank you for a useful suggestion.

Why don't you try to downvote my post and call it a rubbish?
Or any of the people who are in the group with me?
Because their posts are also not so good.
Because this was for them and this is a group account of an entire server.
How about that?

The rules stated are what I think is rubbish. I don't believe I should have to cite myself.

The name of your group has confused many and other's think you are another account linked to steemcleaners.

Steemcleaners claiming that a person must cite their own work that is also posted elsewhere, is over-reaching.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

It is ok, as long we understand each other. I had a freak attack when I saw my friends are getting flagged for free attributing images, I don't understand why, I missed to clarify myself.

"This essentially punishes the innocent because some people do bad things. That is backwards and Orwellian... I shouldnt have to cite myself and be inconvenienced because it's too much work for you to manually confirm."

I agree, particularly with the Orwellian comparison. I do not like the idea of being forced to use some type of approved source for images. I would say that censorship and bullying is not far behind.

Oh, what a cluster...

Nice to meet you, @huntbook. Yes, this type of thing is the antithesis of freedom.

I believe we must have a collective checks and balances, but this is anything but a consensus. This is the equivalent of a self appointed sheriff, which needs to be shut down.

I guess that is why this issue plugs me in so thoroughly. I can't stand bullies, of any kind. It's been known to get me in a lot of trouble...Best!

Guilty until proven innocent is NOT a Steemit value last I heard. This policy agenda is over-reaching and punitive . I suggest a major re-think on this approach.

Oh, and my policy on pics is in my profile. 'Nuff said.

I wish you address @steemcleaners with this, so they can revoke all the flags they made on my friends.
Can you do it?

@steemcleaners has no reason to listen to me and I doubt they will reverse their decisions judging by past behavior.

Here's the deal:

I fully support flagging plagiarized material when it's proven to have been stolen, HOWEVER,
I fully disagree with flagging posts/comments where that proof is questionable.
That's how innocent 'til proven guilty works.

If @steemcleaners is actually proven to be flagging posts and comments randomly, then post the proof and let them defend their double-standand. Their credibility depends on consistent action. Disprove that and you (and you friends) have a chance at reversals.

Can you do that?

I could not agree more. I have been a website publisher for several years, and I have studied as much as I could about the fair use of images. I fail to see how this policy fits with any settled (or unsettled) law that I am aware of...

You?

Inconsistent application of their 'rules' will wreck their credibility faster than anything. On the whole, @steemcleaners is a needed service and they do a great job. However, it they overstep their 'authority', they'll find themselves obsolete.

In my opinion, steemcleaners found me guilty (on one occasion), without due process over an image that was obviously in the public domain, and without copyright. I did not represent it as mine.

To me it is a matter of precedent. Obviously, plagiarism can not be allowed, if you can prove it.

On the other hand, one should not be flagged as guilty without some recourse. To do so is to only make the matter worse...

Yup, they've have been know to do that. I've seen a few cases, in real-time, that they've screwed up. They really need to tighten up that process before expanding any further policies.

I dont see why anyone would do any different lol great advice 👍

Do I need to put a rights notice under each photo I use? All of the pictures I find are public domain or I have permission to use. How would I go about conveying that, so that I don't get flagged by people that don't research it? I want to do things by the book here and contribute.

All pictures posted elsewhere, yours or free source should have a link.
If it is posted the first time on Steemit, only then you don't need to do that.

If I'm using pictures from my phone, how would I provide a link to that? I'm just going to put up the disclaimers I used to use on Squidoo and Hubpages. That should be sufficient. Thanks for taking the time to post this and respond to comments. This is a serious topic that often gets overlooked. I appreciate the dialogue.
