For today’s #steemchurch post, I would like to talk about having a contrite heart and returning to the creator after we have offended him or also if we have been offended.
First off, as Christians, we should understand that we have no power of our own to overcome sin, we only can through the grace of God.
The knowledge of this will help us understand that we cannot fight the flesh through our own strength but only by the grace of the Almighty.
So what then are we to do after we have sinned??
First off, we have to understand what we have done, and know that it is wrong.
In Psalm 51:5- “Behold, I was shapen in iniquity and in sin did my mother conceive me”, this is David’s way of accepting his wrongdoing and knowing fully that he has offended God, he had such a deep sense of wrong that he had done such that he related it to his conception.
No wonder God said that he was a man after his own heart. We can clearly tell from here that David knew fully well that he was wrong and he was deeply sorry for it. This is the first step in having a true act of contrition.
Then with a humble and contrite heart, we must affirm never to do it again.
Psalm 51:10- “Create in me a clean eart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me. Do not banish me from your presence, and don’t take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of my salvation, and make me willing to obey you.”

This just goes to explain a true act of contrition. It goes to show us that we must desire more than anything to wash ourselves clean of such transgressions. This is what makes it genuine, the desire to want to change and a conscious effort to change. So like the psalmist, we should also strive to run back to God after we must have offended him.
We should avoid things or people or locations that we know caused us to sin against God.
This is more like a bonus point. For this one, we must be mindful of the company we keep, and also where we are at any point in time. This goes a long way to help us stay in the grace of God.
Thanks for reading and God bless.
A contrite heart is a heart that has feelings, one who feels bad after a wrong action. Such a person will be willing to ask for forgiveness. Let us all as parishioners of SteemChurch develop a contrite heart. Good having you around Xinese.
Thanks for your contribution @jaff8.
A very important topic! This is a common problem in the world today. A person would act in a wicked way and wouldn't even give a damn. When we have a contrite heart, we will be willing to ask for forgiveness.

I am honored. Thanks for stopping by.
Sin drags us away from the grace of God. Sin can destroy the wonderful relationship we have with him too. It is good we avoid the things that make us sin, situations that may make us fall short of the glory of God and it is good we have a remorseful and repentant heart that is always willing to seek forgiveness whenever we go astray.
Thanks for this valuable contribution @sahrodion
We should abstain from bad company and environment that could cause us to sin.
A Remorseful heart shows contrition and a conscious effort to live a less sinful life.
A True act of contrition of requires a firm resolve and the grace of God to avoid sin and near occasion of sin.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms....it takes the grace of God for we Christians to live in this think of World.
We first have to admit and acknowledge our sins, then ask for forgiveness from the lord, who is ever merciful!!
For our God is a merciful God and is always ready to forgive us as many times as necessary if only we ask this of him. Making a consious effort to get closer to God and admitting our wrong when we flatter is of utmost importance in our path to salvation. May God give us all a humble heart. This i pray. Remain blessed all.
God of Mercy. He will surely forgive us of our sins. Thanks for this wonderful post. This is a nice post @xinese,it is important that after we have sinned against God, we should always go to him for forgiveness because he is a
Apostle Paul said in his book of romans that time he sees himself-doing what he vowed not to do again , this shows that we don't power over what we do to offend God but its only by his infinite mercy and grace that we will be able to walk with him, if we possess a contrite heart we will be able to acknowledge our wrongdoings and feel remorse about it and that is exactly a kind of heart the Lord wants and that is why we should always ask him not to look ar our sins but our heart because if he were to look at oue sns we won't stand a second on earth.
This just remembered about king David in the bible no man is above God . We sin every day knowing and unknowingly so we just need to pray for forgiveness and ask for a clean heart
A contrite heart first accepts its mistake and then realize its against the will of God, so it sees the need to ask for forgiveness.
Genuine repentance comes totally from the heart not the mouth.
Truth be told.. Most humans are scared of turning from there mistake yet they wish to change.. But because of worldly pleasure they refuse to change.. The most important part of this is prayer.. As it's only through prayer we can resist the devil and his temptations.. Thanks for this post by the way
Precise and informative. Thanks for sharing. The Word of the Lord is everything.
