A few years ago, a dear friend of was stolen by the cold hands of death. She was a very dear friend, with whom I shared a lot of memories with. When she died of cerebral meningitis, I felt my world had crumbled. The very same person I thought I would have with me forever, was no more. Sad and depressed as I was, I asked many questions. One that stood out was, "will I ever see my dead friend again?" , "can the dead come back to life?"
The question CAN THE DEAD RISE AGAIN?, has bothered the minds of many for centuries. Many who have lost loved ones in death crave to see their dead loved ones again, but then, they question the possibility. As Christians however we should not be in the dark to this issue. Why? It is because the Bible which is God's word tells us the answer.
To discuss this we will look at three questions that will lead us to the answer;
- What does the Bible say about it?
- Are there past examples of ressurections in the Bible?
- What is the future of those who are dead now?
So let's discuss.........
WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT IT?
Let's allow the Bible speak.
- 1 Corinthians 15: 21; ( 21 For since death came through a man, resurrection of the dead also comes through a man)
One man,Adam, brought death to the world. One man, Jesus, made resurrection of the dead possible. - Acts 24:15;(15 And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous).
God's word says that there is going to be a resurrection of those who are dead. Whether righteous or unrighteous. - John 5:28,29;(28 Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment).
It may sound amazing or unbelievable, but the son of God Jesus Christ said, "Do not be amazed". The resurrection of our dead loved ones is possible.
So the Bible says resurrection of the dead is possible. This brings us to the next question,
ARE THERE PAST EXAMPLES OF RESURRECTIONS IN THE BIBLE?
Well the answer is yes. Consider some examples;
In 1Kings 17:1-24, we see how God used the prophet Elijah to raise back to life, the son of a widow. This was the first record of a resurrection in the Bible and this was Elijah's 3rd miracle at the time.
In 2 Kings 13:20,21, we see how God used Elisha's bones to raise another dead person back to life. The record relates that after Elisha’s burial another man was being buried when a marauding band of Moabites caused the burial party to throw the man into Elisha’s burial place and flee. Upon touching Elisha’s bones, the dead man came to life and stood upon his feet. Wow! Yes the resurrection is real.
And of course we won't complete resurrection examples without mentioning Jesus Christ. The son of God showed his power over death by raising people back to life. He showed compassion and raised the dead. He will do more on a global scale in the future. You can research some resurrections by Jesus in the Bible.
Now this brings us the last question;
WHAT IS THE FUTURE OF THOSE WHO ARE DEAD NOW?
Well once again, the Bible answers ;
- Isaiah 26:19;(Your dead will live.My corpses will rise up.Awake and shout joyfully,You residents in the dust! For your dew is as the dew of the morning,And the earth will let those powerless in death come to life).
Yes!, those asleep in death will come back to life again. They will be raised up, and yes we shall see our dead loved ones again.
At that time, death will no longer have a hold on us. There shall be no more sorrow, no more pain and no more death. (Revelation 21:3,4).

Thanks for resteeming. We all need the hope.
Sorry for your loss. We live in a world where death takes our loved ones from us. From the scriptures you mentioned, it shows that there is hope for a resurrection. A message of hope is really needed in our times.
Yes there is hope. And it is real. The bible assures us all.
The death of a loved one is not something we pray for. It could be very painful and some persons do not go back to normal after they lose someone. But there is hope, the dead shall rise again on resurrection morning and we all shall be together again with our heavenly father in glory.
There is hope for there shall be no more death and sorrow when Jesus comes to take us home.
Sorry for your loss brother but you will surely see your dear friend again.
Yes death shall be no more. Revelation 21:3,4
Thanks For This Message Of Hope, a dear friend lost a parent some weeks ago. It is reassuring to know that the dead will be resurrected and we can see all our lost loved ones again.
Yes, it is reassuring.
1st corinthians 15 vs 21
Christ died so that we may be saved eternally.
Exactly. God sent his son Jesus, to die for us so we may have everlasting life. John3:16
I concur with you when you say this question does bother alot of people,and your article does alot of justfication to the resurrection of the dead.
Yes many have been puzzled by the question. But the answers are in the Bible for us to find.
This is the last hope of everybody who has lost someone very close to them there had been examples of dead people being raised back to life and us as human solely believe that that moment in this modern day is last day when the power of death will be dominated forever.
Thanks for your contribution. Lets continue to give hope to as many as possible.
As far as the Bible tells us that the dead will rise again someday, we can only miss now for we know that we will be reunited with again.
