WHAT IS VICTORY?
Victory means to win a battle. A successful outcome over something, also a defeat over a particular struggling. To be victorious is not something easy at all. A warrior who went out for a battle must be physically and spiritually fit and prepared so he can win or else the opponent will overcome him. As they say, "No battle,No victory ".

When we are talking about battle here,it is not when you point out a wrestling hand on somebody or when you have a misunderstanding with somebody that it is called a battle. Battle here is every challenges, problems, suffering we are passing through, and this battle cannot be fought without Christ with us.

In John 5:1-10, The Bible talks about an impotent man who had an infirmity(battle) for thirty eight(38) years, this man has gotten the solution to his problem but his challenge now is that he can't carry himself into the water that was to make to him clean and free. But after 38 years that his battle is about to end,Jesus came at that time and helped him out. When Jesus saw him lie,and knew that he had been now a long time in that case,he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?(John 5:6). This is a question that needs no thinking before you give an answer, I know the man is not happy with his situation, and he needs to get out from it and become a complete man. An opportunity came to him and straight away, gave Jesus an answer, then Jesus commanded that he should rise and walk. That was how the man got victory over his battle for a long year.

Are you in a situation that you have concluded that nothing can be done. The impotent man probably had given up hope not until Jesus came to Him,this shows that God is the owner of the battle and sent His Son to come and deliver him. God is not always pleased with our present situation, so He has given His son the authority to help us out if only we believe in Him and make Him our helper. Your situation is a battle and just for little time, you will become victorious over it.

Another person who was victorious was DAVID. David fought Goliath(their enemy) with just the word of God. David was the son of Jesse and the youngest of the children, he is a small boy who trusted in the Lord and believed in His word. God had been with him right from time,he had once killed a bear and a Lion with his bare hands with the help of God. David was sent to give his brothers food when he saw what was happening on the field,he then with courage told Saul the king in 1Samuel 17:32 that, "And David said to Saul,Let no man's heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine"
David was looked down upon and considered a small boy who cannot face Goliath, but what was inside David was greater than any other thing. David went to meet Goliath.
Goliath saw him and told David if he was a dog that David should come and fight him but he forgot that God is in him while he was just nothing before David.

1Samuel 17:45,

Then said David to the Philistine, thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defiled.

As a Christian who wants to be victorious in all ways must act like David,he has already called God to action and He is ready to fight as He did for David. David conquered Goliath with the help of God. We need to put and call on Him whenever we are in a situation that we find ourselves.

There are other people who were victorious in the Bible and they are;

  • The woman with the issue of blood
  • Hannah who was victorious from her barrenness
  • Joseph who was delivered from Potiphar's wife etc

There are things we must do to remain victorious, we don't want to remain in that same situation/problem, we need to move higher and overcome. What must I do to remain victorious?

  • Mark 10:27, "And Jesus looking upon them saith,With men it is impossible, but not with God:for with God all things are possible."
Always put your trust in the Lord and believe that all things are possible with Him and not with human beings.

  • Do not be empty, let the word of God never cease from your mouth. The book of Joshua 1:8 says, "This book of the law(Bible) shall not depart from thee, but you shall meditate on it therein." Let the word be constant in your mouth and wait for God to act on your behalf.

  • By faith, let the promises of God move into action in your life. Declare and prophecy the promises of God concerning you and so shall it be. When your faith is low when things you are asking for is not showing forth. Apply faith and hold on to it,God will help you out and remember depending on God is the only sure way.

In summary, victory cannot be won without Christ abiding in us,also through the word of God,we can be victorious. Jesus was victorious on earth, so we need to put on the whole armour of God to remain victorious.
