Like any good father, God will never give us what He knows could harm us. His intention is to help us develop an image like that of Christ Jesus, so that we become salt and light in the world (Matthew 5: 13-14). God does not want us to see Him only as a heavenly source of material possessions, acquiring things is not the fundamental purpose of this life (Luke 12:15).
