Good morning my dear steemians, it's your steemit babygirl @steemcenturion and today I want us to talk about a very important issue.
Romans 8:29-30 (NLT) says
For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory.
From the above scripture we understand that every child of God is a child of destiny. There are many days in a man’s life but there are specific/certain days he cannot forget in a hurry. The day everything stops seeming usual and casual and purpose fulfillment starts falling in place.
We shall center our talk on the life of Saul, but before we dive into the main talk, let’s not forget that God uses several instruments to change a man’s life and of key importance are:
1.Human instruments: which may fail
Word instruments: cannot fail
Scripture reference: 1 Sam 10:1-11
Then Samuel took a flask of olive oil and poured it over Saul's head. He kissed Saul and said, "I am doing this because the Lord has appointed you to be the ruler over Israel, his special possession.
When you leave me today, you will see two men beside Rachel's tomb at Zelzah, on the border of Benjamin. They will tell you that the donkeys have been found and that your father has stopped worrying about them and is now worried about you. He is asking, 'Have you seen my son?'
When you get to the oak of Tabor, you will see three men coming toward you who are on their way to worship God at Bethel. One will be bringing three young goats, another will have three loaves of bread, and the third will be carrying a wineskin full of wine.
They will greet you and offer you two of the loaves, which you are to accept.
"When you arrive at Gibeah of God, where the garrison of the Philistines is located, you will meet a band of prophets coming down from the place of worship. They will be playing a harp, a tambourine, a flute, and a lyre, and they will be prophesying.
At that time the Spirit of the Lord will come powerfully upon you, and you will prophesy with them. You will be changed into a different person.
After these signs take place, do what must be done, for God is with you.
Then go down to Gilgal ahead of me. I will join you there to sacrifice burnt offerings and peace offerings. You must wait for seven days until I arrive and give you further instructions."
As Saul turned and started to leave, God gave him a new heart, and all Samuel's signs were fulfilled that day.
When Saul and his servant arrived at Gibeah, they saw a group of prophets coming toward them. Then the Spirit of God came powerfully upon Saul, and he, too, began to prophesy.
When those who knew Saul heard about it, they exclaimed, "What? Is even Saul a prophet? How did the son of Kish become a prophet?"
It is very important that we note the stages of encounter Saul went through:
¹.Encounter with someone connected to his destiny (1 Sam. 10:1).
².Encounter with spiritual renewal (1 Sam. 10:1).
³.Encounter with men with the message of hope (1 Sam. 10:2).
4.Encounter with three men who gave him gifts (wine, goats and loaves of bread (1 Sam. 10:3-4)).
5.Encounter with a company of prophets within the enemies’ territory (1 Sam. 10:5)
6.Encounter with the anointer and the anointing (1 Sam. 10:10).
For Saul’s destiny encounter to be accredited by heaven, the presence of the anointing was paramount.
What is the anointing?
The manifest presence of the Holy Spirit that is present in the presence of need. 2 Corinthians 1:21-22 says
“Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.”
It is the clothing of a natural being with the supernatural.
God rubbing off himself on man.
A seal of ownership and a stamp of approval.
2 Corinthians 1:21-22 says
“Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.”
1 Kings 19:15-17
The Lord said to him, "Go back the way you came, and go to the Desert of Damascus. When you get there, anoint Hazael king over Aram.
Also, anoint Jehu son of Nimshi king over Israel, and anoint Elisha son of Shaphat from Abel Meholah to succeed you as prophet.
Jehu will put to death any who escape the sword of Hazael, and Elisha will put to death any who escape the sword of Jehu.
1 Sam 9:16
“About this time tomorrow I will send you a man from the land of Benjamin. Anoint him leader over my people Israel; he will deliver my people from the hand of the Philistines. I have looked upon my people, for their cry has reached me."
2 Kings 9:3
Then take the flask and pour the oil on his head and declare, 'This is what the Lord says: I anoint you king over Israel.' Then open the door and run; don't delay!"
× A divine lubricant that helps believers in their journey of life.
× Divine power deposit that enables a man to do certain things that ordinarily he won’t be able to do.
Why do we need the anointing?
- The anointing turns the anointed into another person
- The anointing provides a divine covering that protects
- The anointing empowers believers to fulfill The Great Commission
- The anointing enables the anointed to excel in all life’s endeavors
- The anointing makes the anointed a problem solver.
Luke 5:17-19
One day as he was teaching, Pharisees and teachers of the law, who had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem, were sitting there. And the power of the Lord was present for him to heal the sick.
Some men came carrying a paralytic on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus.
- The anointing enables the anointed to fight and win life’s battles
- Anointing gives the anointed the authority to be in charge. Heb 11:32-35
And what more shall I say? I do not have time to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel and the prophets, who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions, quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to strength; and who became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies.
- The anointing distinguishes the anointed and the un-anointed
- The anointing empowers believers for effective service.
- The anointing establishes the anointed
- The anointing endues favour upon the anointed
Heb 11:11-12
By faith Abraham, even though he was past age — and Sarah herself was barren — was enabled to become a father because he considered him faithful who had made the promise. And so from this one man, and he as good as dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore.
The anointing enables the anointed to fulfill his ministry
Brothers and sisters in the faith, after the much emphasis on the importance of the anointing in one’s encounter with destiny, we should also note that if an individual does not crave for the anointing upon his or her life, destiny fulfillment would be futile. In as much as God often sets up a man for destiny discovery and recovery, we have a big role to play because we can’t be sitting in our comfort zone and expect to be forced into having an encounter with destiny. Abraham our patriarch encountered God and had a new beginning at the age of seventy five. When God asked him to leave to a place where he had no idea of, he took a step of faith and trusted God as found in Genesis 12:1-9 below:
The Lord had said to Abram, "Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you.
"I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you."
So Abram left, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Haran.
He took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated and the people they had acquired in Haran, and they set out for the land of Canaan, and they arrived there.
Abram traveled through the land as far as the site of the great tree of Moreh at Shechem. At that time the Canaanites were in the land.
The Lord appeared to Abram and said, "To your offspring I will give this land." So he built an altar there to the Lord, who had appeared to him.
From there he went on toward the hills east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to the Lord and called on the name of the Lord. Then Abram set out and continued toward the Negev.
Saul our case study obeyed all the instructions given to him by Prophet Samuel to the later and it yielded fruit as found in 1 Samuel 10:1-11. Noah also was not exempted. His encounter with destiny is the reason why you and I are still on the surface of the earth. We would have been wiped off over a million years ago. Moses and Jacob also encountered their destinies in Christ and their lives were enhanced and were blessings to their generation.
As believers who seek to encounter destiny, must cultivate these attitudes:
- Being alive in the spirit
If a man wants to encounter God who ushers us into our destinies, he must be alive spiritually because God is spirit and can only be accessed by a spiritually active man. 1 Cor 2:14-15, >The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.” - Being prayerful
Most times, we encounter God through prayer and he reveals himself through visions and revelations. Jeremiah 33:3 says,
'Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.'
Being an ardent promoter of Kingdom business
When we commit ourselves to seeking the promotion of the kingdom, we are ushered into our glorious destinies in Christ. Matt 6:33, >“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”Being full of faith
Encountering one’s destiny answers almost absolutely to faith. Habakkuk 2:2-4 says
Then the Lord replied: "Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay. "See, he is puffed up; his desires are not upright — but the righteous will live by his faith”
Matthew 9:29 also says
“Then he touched their eyes and said, "According to your faith will it be done to you"; and their sight was restored. Jesus warned them sternly, "See that no one knows about this."
Beloved in Christ, we should seek to encounter destiny because that single experience will change your life for the better and put an end to all the fruitless toilings.
