FAST

Abstinence from all food for a limited period. The fasts done with the right motive would show godly sadness and repentance for sins committed. It was also appropriate to fast when faced with a great danger, when faced with an extreme need to obtain divine guidance, by enduring trials and facing temptations, or when studying, meditating or concentrating on God's purposes. Fasting was not a voluntary punishment, but a way to humble oneself before Jehovah. (Ezra 8:21, 9: 5, compare 1Ki 21: 27-29.) Jesus fasted forty days, as did Moses and Elijah, the two prophets who appeared in a vision with him at the transfiguration.

The Christian advice about fasting. When Jesus was on the earth, he gave the following instructions to his disciples: "When you fast, stop looking sad like the hypocrites, because they disfigure your face so that men may feel they are fasting. Truly I tell you: They already enjoy their full reward. But you, when you fast, put on your head with oil and wash your face, so that it does not look like fasting to men, but to your Father who is in secret; then your Father who watches in secret will pay you "

16 When you fast, do not be austere, like hypocrites; because they demure their faces to show men that they fast; I swear you that the have already got their reward.

Fasting is such an underutilized and powerful approach the modern church leaves out. I feel if a lot more churches fasted and prayed, we would see more power in our lives. Great post.

Thank you ... I would like to be able to get this information to all the brothers of the community, so that we do not forget this habit that purifies us and gives spiritual power.
