Human relations with God

"Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: Speak to the whole congregation of the children of Israel and tell them: You will be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy. Each one of you must revere his mother and father. And you will keep my Sabbaths; I am the Lord your God. "

God gave these instructions to Moses, the legislator, and they extend a part of the Ten Commandments. God demands pure behavior on the grounds that He is holy. It is convenient to note that God still orders that such conduct be followed today. Saint Paul said in 1 Corinthians 10:31: Then, whether you eat, drink, or do anything else, do everything for the glory of God. In 2 Corinthians 5:17, he said: So if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; old things happened; Behold, they are made new. And St. Peter, in his first letter 1:13 to 16, said: Therefore, be prepared and use your good judgment. Put all your hope in what God, in his goodness, will give you when Jesus Christ appears. As obedient children, do not live according to the desires you had before knowing God. On the contrary, live in a completely holy way, because God, who called you, is holy; For the Scripture says: "Be holy, because I am holy."

The main difference between the behavior required by the Law and that of the age of grace, in which we live, is that now, dynamics is provided to the believer by the person of the Holy Spirit. Thus, we are united to the Christ who lives and the affairs of the old life are left behind. Spiritually speaking, we are no longer linked to Adam, nor to a legal system. We are united to Christ and we must try to please him. It is that under the Law, the Israelites tried to obey the commandments by their own efforts. They had to learn that normal human nature always falters or fails. In contrast to that time, we now have the Spirit of God in us. Saint Paul said in Romans 8: 3 and 4: Because God has done what the law of Moses could not do, because he was not able to do it because of human weakness: God sent his own Son in a weak condition like that of man a sinner and as a sacrifice for sin, to thereby condemn sin in that same weak condition. He did it so that we could fulfill the just demands of the law, because we no longer live according to the inclinations of weak nature but according to the Spirit. And the same writer in Galatians 5:22 and 23, said the following: Instead, what the Spirit produces is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility and self-control. Against such things there is no law. The law could never get these results. It is that the Son of God wants to raise us to a higher level.

By emphasizing certain commandments that they had to keep, God would emphasize those specific areas in which they were weak. The history of Israel will show us that God understood their weaknesses. They were instructed on the Sabbath or Sabbath, to avoid idolatry and to present the appropriate offerings to God. These were the areas in which they would subsequently fail. God was asking them to be pure in their daily lives.
