See how good and how delicious it is to inhabit the brothers together in harmony! 2It's like good oil on your head,
Which descends on the beard, The beard of Aaron, And goes down to the edge of his garments; 3As the dew of Hermon,
That descends on the mountains of Sion; For there Jehovah sends blessing, and eternal life. Psalm 133
What I want to emphasize at this moment is the figure of the anointing oil that represents the harmony of the brothers in a happy coexistence. It is one of the most beautiful representations of the effect of God's anointing on the lives of his people. Scholars inform us that the use of the anointing oil served to indicate that the object or anointed person was separated for service to God. It is used especially in the Old Testament to mark the consecration of the Levitical priests and to point out the selection of some king from God. Sometimes it also served
to mark the life of a person as a prophet.
It is especially remarkable that the name of Christ means "the Anointed One" of God. It is the translation of the Hebrew "Messiah." It is worth saying that Jesus Christ is the one that God chose to represent him among men, to reveal his grace and love and also to give his life as a ransom for us on Calvary. Under his grace revealed in his great love for us, we can approach him as beloved children and live in harmony, because he has saved us and covered us with his anointing.
ON THE DAY OF PENTECOSTÉS
In a certain sense Psalm 133 was fulfilled on the day of Pentecost when the one hundred and twenty disciples gathered in the upper room were anointed from above by the Holy Spirit. The anointing oil was poured on the head of the ascended Christ and seated on the throne in heaven and now descended on the rest of his body on earth. The apostle John had anticipated in chapter 7 of his Gospel that the Holy Spirit would not be poured out until Christ was glorified. No wonder, then, the disciples were so happy, knowing that their Lord and Savior was already sitting on the throne of the universe.
In the book of Acts, Luke tells how all the redeemed enjoyed such a pleasant and united relationship since the Holy Spirit came upon them. I believe we should always emphasize that the purpose of the anointing of the Lord is both to unite the people of God and to fulfill God's purpose in this world.
It is a fundamental truth and as Christians we must pay close attention to the person of the Holy Spirit. Good message Brother!
