We all like the compliments. As a Christian I can not think of any higher praise than to be described as a man or a woman with a heart conforming to the heart of God. And when that praise comes from God himself, it is better to sit down and take notice; such was David's description of God:
1 Samuel 13:14 But now your kingdom has to end, because the LORD has sought a man according to his own heart. The LORD has already appointed you to be the leader of his people, because you did not obey the command of the LORD.
Acts 13:22 But God removed Saul and replaced him with David, a man of whom God said: "I have found in David, son of Jesse, a man according to my own heart; He will do everything I want him to do. "
Why did God make such an affirmation of this man? Can you have a heart according to the heart of God? If so, I long to have that heart, but ... How can I have a heart according to the heart of God? How did David achieve it?
I MUST SPEND TIME TO SOLAS WITH GOD.
David spent much time in the field with his father's sheep. I had a lot of work as a sheepherder. David spent a long time away from men, but close to God. The person that God will use will be the one who comes from the secret place with God.
The Psalms, like the 23rd, flowed from those moments of intimacy with God. Psalm 19 may also have been written while meditating on the revelation of God through creation and through His written Word. David knew God not only through natural revelation but also through the writings of Moses that he read and meditated while in the field. He also used that time to develop his skill as a musician, expressing his feelings of worship towards God through the psalms.
If you are married with children at home, you may have to struggle to make time to be alone with the Lord. If you are single, you will have to struggle to use the time you have alone for spiritual growth instead of yielding to temptation. If we want to be men and women according to the heart of God, we have to spend time alone with Him.
When we meet David, he is taking care of his father's sheep, a job his older brothers watched with contempt. Isai did not even consider David important enough to be included in the great event with the prophet Samuel (16:11). But God saw David's faithfulness in this apparently unimportant task.
Even if others do not see what you do, God sees it and rewards it. It was part of his learning to lead the nation (Psalm 78: 70-72). He took his job seriously. When a predator attacked one of the sheep, David would not shrug and say, "Oh, well, one is none, no, he went after him and rescued him (17:34 -35).
