Hello, @marpemusic greets you from Nigeria. I joined the @steemchurch community (on discord) championed by @sirknight about a month now. I’ve been exposed to tons and tons of awesome contents, and I’ve been lifted and stirred up. In the bid to be a blessing to the church and every steemian, I’m beginning a series titled “Principles for Living”.
I’ll be giving nuggets, these you must have known or heard before, but, I trust you’ll see these principles in a different/new light as you read.
Remember:
Repetition is the law of deep and lasting impression.
Principles for Living.
- There is no substitute for hard work – Jim Rhon once said: “Everything is hard before it’s easy”, but truth is, it’ll eventually not be hard work when you are passionate about what you do. There’s the time to sow (hard-work), at such a time, there’s a whole lot of self-exertion that is needed to pull through, at such a time your strength/energy/youth is charged, hey, that’s an advantage you know. In all of our endeavors, it is pertinent that we exert ourselves beyond the limits, come to think of it, there are no limits, except for the ones we placed on ourselves by ourselves.
This is also synonymous to diligence like Bible admonishes:
Proverbs 22:9 - Seest thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.
- Be a role model – living a life worthy of emulation is something worth more than gold. What value are you bringing to the table? A role model is someone that leaves a trail, a role model is someone that can be looked up to, a role model is someone that sets the pace, a role model is someone whose inspiration can be aspired to, a role model is someone, a role model brings value, a role model is a giver, a role model is selfless.
But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.
And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted. – Matthew 23:11-12
A role model is not self-centred, he doesn’t live for himself, truth is, a failure lives for himself and for his family alone. Successful people live for others.
Remember, Bible admonishes in
2 Corinthians 5:15 - And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.
- Mount guard over your heart and mind:
Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. – Proverbs 4:23 (NLT)
Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks, out of the abundance of the mind your thoughts breeds. It is your sole responsibility to protect your mind from some kind of information. Your life is a reflection of the predominant thoughts in your mind. Your life will go in the direction of your thoughts, therefore, it is your responsibility to protect it. Shut it from negativism, open it to positivity and possibilities.
You can as well create the future you want through the power of your mind. You do so by meditating on that picture of the future you want, when you do this, that premeditated future of yours will show up.
Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them, that thy profiting may appear to all. – 1 Timothy 4:15
Remember Abraham in the Bible; God had to take him out to feed his vision. God told him to look at the stars and count them. The reason for this is to feed his mind with the picture as a father of many.
Bible admonishes us on what to feed our minds with in the book of Philippians 4:8:
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. – Philippians 4:8
I believe these words of admonition has added some value to your life. If you attest to this, kindly share your thoughts in the comment boxes below.
