A story of Noah started when God saw His people. He could see that all the people had become very bad, so bad that they stopped thinking of anything good. He was mad that He told Noah to make an ark because He is going to get rid of bad people and He wanted to make the evil stop.
I am going to put an end to all people and the earth!
God said.
Noah was a good man in his 480 years. He obeyed what God had told him and built the ark. He told Noah exactly how to do it. The bible says that God and Noah made a covenant. A covenant is an agreement with a promise. And God always honors His promise. A promise that He will save Noah and his family - his wife, 3 sons, and his son's wives. The people laughed at Noah and his family while they were building the ark and said:
Noah is crazy!
But Noah and his family kept on building the ark. They did not mind what people are telling them.
Matthew 24:38-39
In those days before the flood, the people were enjoying banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat. People didn’t realize what was going to happen until the flood came and swept them all away. That is the way it will be when the Son of Man comes.
When all were already inside the ark, God closed the door and the rain began to pour in. God said He would send rain for 40 days and 40 nights and there was also water coming up from the ground so everything on earth was covered in flood pretty quickly.
The people outside the ark ran and swam towards the ark but the ark was already close, drowning them. Every living thing died outside the ark. The waters flooded the earth for one hundred and fifty days.
Finally, the rain stopped on the 7th month. He sent a dove and it went back a little later with an olive leaf on his beak. It means the water had gone down!
Genesis 8:16-17
Come out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and their wives. Bring out every kind of living creature that is with you – the birds, the animals, and all the creatures that move along the ground – so they can multiply on the earth and be fruitful and increase in number upon it.
