The Father who sent me has also borne witness to me. You have never heard his voice, nor have you seen his appearance, you do not have his word dwelling in you; because whom he sent, you do not believe. Search the Scriptures; because it seems to you that in them you have eternal life; and they are the ones that give testimony of me; and you do not want to come to me so that you may have life.John 5: 37-40
These little words spoken by the Master are direct and true because many times people do not want to believe in Jesus and in the sacrifice he made on the cross. But analyzing in more detail this portion of the word we have what the Lord really wanted to show us.
Jesus never filled himself with glory because he always gave glory to the Father for the smallest miracle that he did and even for his preaching he always gave the glory to God, this shows us that despite being the Messiah he was not worthy to receive the glory that did not belong to him.
Many times we believe that by the small miracles that God does through us or by words of blessing that He puts in our mouth our heart begins to fill with vainglory and we begin to believe the best of the best and without realizing it we do not we give glory to the Father ("who is worthy of all glory and honor"), instead of being more humble every day and recognizing that we are simply clay in his hands and He is the one who does his perfect will in our lives.
Because they loved the glory of men more than the glory of God.John 12:43
The Lord Jesus knew that humanity preferred the glory of man that is vain and empty than the Glory of the Father.
Now, Father, glorify me next to you, with that glory that I had with you before the world was.John 17: 5
He knew that the glory was not of Him but of the Father who even to enter before the presence of God showed humility.
All that disbelief of man makes him not believe in Jesus, despite all the miracles and wonders done by Jesus over the centuries, because when Jesus is spoken to another person feel discomfort, heaviness and even annoyance because they do not want to see that to reach the Father is through Christ.
Jesus said to him: I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through me.John 14: 6
That is why man always has difficulty in recognizing who Jesus is and that the only way to heaven is Him, in my opinion this has made man look in a thousand (erroneous) ways to find the truth and this has been one of the reasons main so that so many false doctrines existed that lead man to perdition without noticing that God has given the solution to enter the kingdom of heaven.
Search the Scriptures; because it seems to you that in them you have eternal life; and they are the ones that give testimony of me; and you do not want to come to me so that you may have life.
Christ urges us to read the word of God but with understanding, also as part of our devotional life, because many believe that just by reading the Bible they already have the heavens, but in truth they have not done what is really commanded. BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST, not in our own opinion but as the Holy Spirit teach us to believe every day more in Jesus, since the whole word speaks and refers to Jesus and what He came to do for humanity, to cleanse us of all sin and show us the way to the Father, but we do not believe in Christ much less can we believe in God since the one who sent him gave testimony of Him through Jesus.
Therefore, it is not necessary to take many detours to know that the truth is Christ, and if we believe in The Lord Jesus, we also believe in God the Father.
They said to him: Where is your Father? Jesus answered: Neither you know me, nor my Father; If you knew me, you would also know my Father.John 8:19

The word “believe” in the Bible means more than simply agreeing in our minds that something might be true. It means “trust”—that we believe so strongly in God that we are willing to commit our lives to Him and live the way we know He wants us to live.
