1 Corinthians 10:13
You have not suffered any temptation that is not common to the human race. But God is faithful, and He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can endure. Rather, when temptation comes, he will also give them a way out so that they can resist.
WHEN DOES SIN ENTER?
Sin enters when we say Yes to temptation. We sin when we give in to temptation.
The Bible speaks of some sins that are external, and of other sins that are internal.
By external sins, we mean sins such as cursing, lying, stealing, immorality, drunkenness, murder. No Christian should be guilty of these sins. If these sins still exist in a person's life, there is no evidence that they were born again.
But, sadly, both Christians and non-Christians are guilty of internal sins. By internal sins we mean sins such as pride, jealousy, envy, selfishness, unforgiveness, hatred, greed. These are the secret sins that man's eyes can not see. But God does see them and in His sight they are hateful. We have to learn to triumph over them.
I will talk to you about 4 fundamentals that should be part of our lives in order to overcome sin
1- The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is a gift that God has given us (to His church) to be victorious in Christian living. In Galatians 5: 16-25, God makes a contrast between the actions of the flesh and the fruit of the Spirit. In that passage, we are called to walk in the Spirit. All believers already possess the Holy Spirit, but this passage tells us that we need to walk in the Spirit, leaving our will under His control. This means that we should put into practice what the Holy Spirit induces us to do in our lives, instead of following the desires of the flesh.
The difference that the Holy Spirit can make in the life of the believer is demonstrated in the life of Peter, who before being filled with the Holy Spirit, denied Jesus three times, having said before that he would follow Christ until death. Once filled with the Spirit, Peter spoke of the Savior to the Jews at Pentecost in a strong and open manner.
One walks in the Spirit trying not to block what he himself induces us to do ("without turning off the Spirit" as he says in 1 Thessalonians 5:19) and seek rather to be filled with the Spirit (Ephesians 5: 18-21) . How is one filled with the Holy Spirit? First, it is God's choice just as it was in the Old Testament. God chose specific individuals in the Old Testament to fill these individuals whom he chose to carry out a work that he wanted them to do (Genesis 41:38, Exodus 31: 3, Numbers 24: 2, 1 Samuel 10:10; etc.) In Ephesians 5: 18-21 and Colossians 3:16, there is evidence that God chooses to fill those who are being filled with the Word of God. So that brings us to our next resource.

2- The Word of God, the Bible
2 Timothy 3: 16-17 says that God has given us His Word to equip us for every good work. This teaches us how to live and what to believe, reveals us when we have chosen wrong paths, helps us return to the right path, and helps us stay on that path. As Hebrews 4:12 shares, the Word is alive and effective, and able to penetrate our hearts, to pluck the deepest problems that humanly speaking can not be overcome. The psalmist talks about this power that can change lives in Psalm 119: 9, 11, 105 and other verses. Joshua was told that the key to success in defeating his enemies (an analogy for our spiritual battle) was not to forget this resource, but rather to meditate on the Word day and night, so that he could fulfill it. He did it, even though what God commanded him did not make military sense, and this was the key to his victory in His struggle to obtain the Promised Land.
This is commonly a resource that we treat trivially. We give proof of this by taking our Bibles to the church or reading the daily devotional or a daily chapter, but fail to memorize it, meditate on it, seek the application for our lives, confess the sins that it reveals, adore God for the gifts he reveals to have given us. We often become, or anorexic or bulimic when it comes to the Bible. By nourishing ourselves with the Word, we aspire long enough to keep ourselves spiritually alive, but we do it only when we go to church (but never get enough to be healthy and prosperous Christians); or we often feed ourselves, but we never meditate long enough to obtain spiritual nourishment from it.
If you have not made a habit of studying the Word of God on a daily basis in a meaningful way, and of memorizing it while passing through the passages that the Holy Spirit leaves engraved in your heart, it is important that you begin to do of it a habit. I also suggest starting a journal (it can be on the computer if you can type faster than writing) or in a spiral notebook, etc. Have a habit of not leaving the Word of God until you have written something that benefits you. Often, I write down prayers I make to God, asking Him to help me change in the areas He has also asked me to do. The Bible is the tool that the Spirit uses in our lives and in the lives of others (Ephesians 6:17), an indispensable and primordial part of the armor that God gives us, to fight our spiritual battles (Ephesians 6: 12- 18)!
3- Prayer
This is another essential resource that God has given. Again, this is a resource that Christians mention but do not put into practice, they give it a very poor use. We have prayer meetings, prayer times, etc., but we do not find the use that the church of old gave it, as you can see in these examples in Acts 3: 1; 4:31; 6: 6; 13: 1-3, etc. Paul repeatedly mentions how he prayed for those he ministered to. We also do not use this great resource that is at our disposal in the correct way. But God has given us wonderful promises concerning prayer (Matthew 7: 7-11, Luke 18: 1-8, John 6: 23-27, 1 John 5: 14-15, etc.). And again Paul includes this, in his passage concerning how to prepare for the spiritual battle (Ephesians 6:18)!
How important is this? By looking again at Peter, one can see Christ's words for him in the Garden of Gethsemane before he denied it. There, while Jesus is praying, Peter is sleeping. Jesus wakes him up and says, "Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak "(Matthew 26:41). You, like Peter, want to do what is right, but you can not find the strength. We need to follow God's recommendation to keep looking, calling, asking ... and He is going to give us the strength we need (Matthew 7: 7). But we need not only to mention, but to put this resource into practice.
I am not saying that prayer is magical. It is not. God is formidable. Prayer is simply recognizing our own limitations, and the inexhaustible power of God, and turning to Him by that force, to do what HE wants us to do (not what WE want to do) (1 John 5: 14-15).
4- The Church
Again, this last resource is one that we tend to ignore. When Jesus sent His disciples, He sent them two at a time (Matthew 10: 1). When we read about missionary journeys in the book of Acts, we see that not one missionary came out at a time, but in groups of two or more. Jesus said that where two or three are gathered in His name, there He is in their midst (Matthew 18:20). He commands us not to stop assembling as some people are accustomed, but exhorting one another to encourage us to love and good works (Hebrews 10: 24-25). He commands us to confess our offenses to one another (James 5:16). In the correct Old Testament literature, we are told that iron with iron sharpens; and so the man sharpens the face of his friend (Proverbs 27:17) "Cord of three folds does not break soon." There is strength in the number (Ecclesiastes 4: 11-12).
