YOUR WORDS:CURSE OR BLESSING!

in #steemchurch7 years ago

The tongue possesses unspeakable
power.
Proverbs 18:21 tells us that;
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue.”

The mouth is the open door to the soul,it could be a blessing or a curse.
Psalm 21:23
"Those who guard their mouths and their tongues keep themselves from calamity."

Jesus said in Matthew 15:18
"Those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man.”

Peter, quoting Psalm 34:12-13,
“He who would love life and see
good days, Let him restrain his tongue
from evil, And his lips from speaking
deceit.”

A disdainful heart won't speak supportive and healing words.

James 3:8
"but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison."

However God can! It is my expectation and supplication for me, and for each individual who calls Jesus Lord, that God will so fill our heart and accordingly control our tongue,

Proverbs 16:24
"Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones"

*An indiscreet word may cause strife and anger
*A cruel word may wreck a life;
*A bitter word may destroy and smite,
*A brutal word will achieve nothing; but
*A benevolent word may smooth the way.
*A joyful word may light up a day;
*A caring word may decrease pressure.
*A loving word may recuperate and favor.

It was said of Jesus in John 7:46,
"No man ever spoke like this Man.”
As we live in the power of His grace, may it be that others will say the same of us.
May our words be a blessing unto others!!
Also let us pray that the lord help us to control the words from our mouth;
Psalm 141:3
Set a guard over my mouth, LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips

Only the spiritually inclined and those matured in christ can control their tongue. It is an unmistakable evidence of God’s work of grace in their life.

Thank you so much @stremchurch for giving us a platform to spread the gospel! Error noted!

All these bible verses helps us to see the power in the tongue. We can either use our tongues for good or bad. We have to be wise and make the right decision.

Yes @jaff8 they do,thanks for reading!

The way you outlined the verses and explained in details is very good, we should understand that the tongue is one dangerous weapon ,that should be tamed!!

Thank you for reading @bodakk

The tounge is a really powerful part of our body and this bible verse in the book of james clearly tells us that we shouldn't use it to pronounce bad things and still praise God with it.

9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. 10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. 11 Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? 12 My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.
We should strive to only say good things to people and not speak ill of others.

Our Words Are Reflections Of The Content Of Our Hearts.

Those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man.”

Speak Wisely

those are the facts @druids thank you

It could be a blessing or a curse, depending on the positivity and negativity you put in it. You don't expect to grow yam and reap plantain, if your words from your mouth brings positivity, then positivity comes, but if it brings out negativity, negativity comes, let's us all endeavour to speak words of positivity. Nice bible verses jedaijudith.

@daniho you most certainly reap what you sew,espercially with words from yoir mouth.

There is power in the tongue as a Christian, as James said in his letter should learn to bridle our tongue because out mouth of Christian proceed of healing or death,choosely wisely

Nice post and bible verses jedaijudith, words are like sharp knives, if not careful, one might injure an innocent soul, it could be a blessing when you speak words of positivity, and it could be a curse when you speak negativity, so we should be mindful of the words we speak.

You are right, words have power to cause pain or joy!!

Tnks@peteron

As humans created in the likeness of God we need to understand the power we wield. After all God did all things through his 'WORD'. This goes to show that we also can proclaim and watch it happen.

True words @baelish thanks!

It is very important to guide our utterances because when spoken it cant be retracted and can have many positive and negative effect

A cruel word may wreck a life;
*A bitter word may destroy and smite,
*A brutal word will achieve nothing; but
*A benevolent word may smooth the way.
*A joyful word may light up a day;
*A caring word may decrease pressure.
*A loving word may recuperate and favor.

Many talents has been left uncovered because of"don't do it I think you cannot do it"
Same with other kind of careless words

Thats why we should always try hard to encourage people as much as we can!

Nice one friend....he that thinketh he stands take heed less he falls....lets always use God's word as our guide in all we do

Thanks for stopping by @zengencoon

Indeed there is power in the tongue, a man with power or authority brings his wishes through his spoken words... We as children of God possess the power of God in us, so we should be mindful of the things we say.

Those who guard their mouths and their tongues keep themselves from calamity."

We should guard our tongue and think before speaking.

And also endeavor to encourage more, tnks for your comment
