But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 1:8 (KJV)
God Almighty is true to His Word; when He makes a promise, He actually delivers it. He promised to pour out of His Spirit on all flesh, Joel 2:28-29, and He fulfilled His promise in the opening Scripture. The Holy Spirit is the power and glory of God. You cannot succeed in the Christian life without the power of the Holy Spirit. When mankind fell in the Garden of Eden, they became insensitive to God and only cared about things of the flesh. The Holy Spirit is the solution to man’s spiritual insensitivity towards God. If you want to be powerful to do great things for God, you need the power of the Holy Spirit. As a child of God, desire and ask for the power of the Holy Spirit so that you can be a true witness for Christ Jesus. The initial sign that you have received the power of the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues and prophesying. May you enjoy the power and fellowship of the Holy Spirit so that you can live a victorious life.

Jesus was talking to his disciples. Jesus gave them the power to perform miracles. Jesus didn't promise power to Christians in general. Jesus didn't give us the power to perform miracles either.
