It came to passed that Peter and other Apostle were ceased not to preach in the land of Jerusalem and its environs. Through this they were persecuted and jailed. But through God, his saving grace they disappeared from jail which became as surprise to the securities of the prison. After this they came and found out that Peter and other Apostles were standing at the courts preaching, the people from the prison threatened them that they have warned them not to preach. Peter stood up and said "we should rather obey God rather than men."
That is how many of us are because of fear, we tend to listen to men rather than God. We are in the societies where most people are influenced by the culture of the societies which are sometimes violating the rules of God. We follow and do what people say in the community rather than what the Bible want us to do. Our mode of dressings are changing, we cherish fashion of the society. Our language, our behavior are all what pleases with men but not God. Because we do not see God physical, we appreciate what men say, do and feel, than obeying the words of God.
We must Change our attitude in order not to fall short in the Salvation God. Peter said, we should obey God rather than what men say. If what we are doing is right, God can intervene and rescue us. For God knew that what Peter and the other Apostles were doing the right thing that is why He rescue them from prison. The opposer's proceeded the commotion but did not succeed. That is the power of God. If we really obey him, we will be able to overcome our enemies.
Very much agree that we should obey God rather than man.
I was also reminded of something else that Peter said when he quoted Isaiah 40:8...
