WHY DO I STILL SIN?

A man named John Piper said once that "A man sins because he wants to". But is that really the case?. Let's look at what John said concerning this problem of sin.

Romans 7:18-20 (AMP)
For I know that nothing good dwells within me, that is, in my flesh. I can will what is right, but I cannot perform it.
For I fail to practice the good deeds I desire to do, but the evil deeds that I do not desire to do are what I am doing.
Now if I do what I do not desire to do, it is no longer I doing it , but the sin which dwells within me

So this verse has exposed to us the authentic answer to the question. Even when we don't want to we find ourselves doing wrong, because we are born with a sinful nature and has lived with it for a long time and have become slave to Sin.
Therefore Paul is right and Mr Piper is wrong.....

Now what is the way out?

Jesus said in the scriptures.....

John 8:31-36 (AMP)
So Jesus said to those Jews who had believed in Him, If you abide in My word , you are truly My disciples.
And you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free.
They answered Him, We are Abraham's offspring (descendants) and have never been in bondage to anybody. What do You mean by saying, You will be set free?
Jesus answered them, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, Whoever commits and practices sin is the slave of sin.
Now a slave does not remain in a household permanently (forever); the son does remain forever.
So if the Son liberates you , then you are really and unquestionably free.

Romans 6:17-20 (AMP)
But thank God, though you were once slaves of sin, you have become obedient with all your heart to the standard of teaching in which you were instructed and to which you were committed.
And having been set free from sin, you have become the servants of righteousness (of conformity to the divine will in thought, purpose, and action).
I am speaking in familiar human terms because of your natural limitations. For as you yielded your bodily members as servants to impurity and ever increasing lawlessness, so now yield your bodily members once for all as servants to righteousness (right being and doing) to sanctification.
For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness.

The reality of becoming a slave to righteousness is solely a function of how much of God's word which is LIGHT is in you, and how much you fellowship with the spirit

BE INTENTIONAL ABOUT LIVING OUT GODS WORD

You're welcome apostol Owoblow. God help us we all await the coming of our Lord.

Because of the adamic nature in us by default, the flesh always yearns for canal things. We need the help of the Holy Spirit to effectively overcome sin.

As humans we always fall short of God's glory. Even the scripture says that if we say we have no sin we are liars. It is important that we acknowledge the fact that we are sinners and ask for forgiveness when we sin. God always accepts a contrite and repentant heart so its important that we stay close to God after getting forgiveness and not go back to sin. Remember God is not mocked, a man reaps what he sows.

Paul explained why. We sin, or miss the mark, because of something that dwells in us, in our flesh. Jesus identifies the most significant characteristic of the “flesh,” or our nature, that causes sin. “Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation.

We must have been asking ourselves why we sinned sometimes but these post is very explanatory and it will help us all.... Great post

What you said is Very true. "when we don't want to, we find ourselves doing wrong, because we are born with a sinful nature and has lived with it for a long time and have become slave to Sin". But this doesnt mean theres no more hope!. Jesus is ever present to save us from our sins!.

We still sin because the time of which Armageddon n all the revelation scriptures are to take place have not come yet.. revelation scriptures has the answer to your question

Out of sin where we concived and is impossible for us ti be perfect but striving to achieve perfection should be our goal ,to sin andvto recognise the we have sinned is only what made david the one after Gods oen heart not that he is perfect,we should endevour to be remorsfull about our shortcomings before God and with that we are going to be freindly witb him again.

Mameh....

We are humans prone to sin and constantly seeking perfection. Only God's word can help us achieve that. It all depends on how willing are we to displeasure our sinful flesh and pleasure our righteousness seeking spirit

Very true Sir. Thanks for stopping by.

As imperfect humans it is normal to fall short of the glory of God. But we have to strive to continue doing what is right. I'm glad you shared this on SteemChurch.

True Sir. Thanks for your addition.
It feels great sharing truths that will change people's lives. Will do more by God's grace

"shall we continue in sin so that grace may abide .....God forbid ."
As humans we are not perfect qs christ is ,but lets strive for perfection .it might not be easy putting away our sinful nature but it will be beneficiary to us when we do so because sin draws us away from christ .
Nice post dear
