Its been a while since I posted because of my busy school schedule. Studying engineering is one hell of a job. Today I want to share my understanding on the meaning of Beauty.

Beauty

When we hear the word beauty, the first thing that comes to mind is something attractive or something with an appearance pleasing to the eyes. The dictionary defines beauty as;

"that which is attractive, pleasing, fine or good looking; comeliness"

This is true and applicable to the world but not to believers, this is because a person's beauty is not dependent on how they look. If beauty was to be considered by looks, then some people will be found lacking in that area and that is totally wrong because God is beautiful, and he created us in his image and likeness **Genesis 1:27;

"So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them"

Now let's talk about the meaning of beauty for a believer;

True beauty

Now true beauty is a kind of beauty that is not dependent on the outward appearance of a person, but depends on the inward part of a person, hence character. We are not the ones that decide how we look outwardly ( our facial and body appearance), but we are the ones that can decide how we look inwardly. True beauty is the fairest way of considering the beauty of a person. A person might be facialy one of the most beautiful person you will ever meet, but when you get closer to that person, you may discover that (s) he isn't beautiful at all. This is why the saying "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder" is very true. True beauty is giving people a beautiful thing to behold, hence character.

How do we possess true beauty?

This totally comes from our character, and our character depends on our mindset, and the mindset we should have is based on living a christ like life, which comes from having closer relationship with God through his Word, praising and worshipping him and of course praying that the spirit abides in you. This means true beauty comes From acting God's word.

Galatians 3:26-27 NIV
" So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith,
27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ".

2 Corinthians 4:16 NIV
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day".

1 Peter 3:3-4 NIV
"Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes.
4 Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight".

True beauty never fades because it's in line with God's word. It is what we can possess and what we should possess as believers. I leave you with this quote ; "Everyone can behold beauty, but it on a beautiful person sees the beauty in everything".
