RE: The psychological impact of inequality

in #steemchurch7 years ago

Excluding certain social groups generates an increase in poverty rates. With fewer resources and opportunities to move up the social pyramid, disadvantaged people are condemned to occupy a secondary or tertiary position in societies.
The equality of all human beings is an essential and irrevocable principle for Christians who know and want children and brothers of the same Father-Mother God. To believe in the principle of the Incarnation realized in Jesus is to believe that every human being, particularly if he is poor or victim, is called to experience in his life what are free and equal human relationships. There is no Christian who can deny this basic truth if he wants to remain so. However, we must recognize that the confession of this principle has been maintained against all empirical evidence that shows us how Christianity has been from its origins to the present day complicit in the most unjust and scandalous forms of inequality. Nor have there been among Christians who have not only defended the inequality reality with fervor, but have come to legitimize inequality in the name of innumerable reasons and even to sacralize it in the name of a pretended divine will.
