The word Bible comes from the Greek "Biblíon" which translated means "Books or Rolls". (Ex 31:18, 32:16)
The Bible is the Word of God revealed to humanity.
Author: God
Interpret: The Holy Spirit (2 Sa 23: 2; 2 Pe 1:21).
Its main theme is the redemption of man through Jesus Christ (Jn 3:16). But it is also useful to teach, exhort, correct and instruct man in righteousness (2 Tim 3:16).
The Bible was written by 40 people chosen and prepared by God in different times and places.
Its authors were kings, princes, poets, prophets, pastors, priests, doctors and others were simply fishermen.
It was completed in a period of approximately 1600 years and written in 3 different languages.
But despite their different writers, occupations and languages, living in different places and times, all the books of the Bible show a unity and was the divine inspiration given by the Holy Spirit to each of its authors (2 Sa 23: two).
The Bible is divided into Old Testament and New Testament. The word "Testament" means "Covenant" or "Covenant", referring to the covenants of God with His chosen people (Ex 19: 5-6) and with His Son Jesus Christ (Mt 26: 26-28).
The Old Testament narrates the preparation of Salvation (Jer 31: 31-34).
The New Testament shows the manifestation of Salvation through Jesus Christ (Heb 13:20). On the other hand these two covenants divided the times of humanity into "before Christ" (a.C.) and "after Christ" (d.C.).
The Bible has 66 books in total;
39 of the Old Testament
27 of the New Testament.
The 39 books of the Old Testament are composed of 5 books of the Pentateuch, 12 historical books, 5 poetic, 5 of major prophets and 12 of minor prophets.
While the 27 books of the New Testament are made up of 4 gospels, 1 historical book, 13 Pauline letters, 8 general letters and 1 prophetic book.
The church needs every day to be instructed with the manual that God prepared for her, for her girlfriend because he comes for her and she needs to be prepared, she needs to speak the same language as him, so church every day I will prepare a brief study about what what is the bible, how is it composed and how can it instruct us and bring us closer to God?
