Titus 2:13-14
"Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.”
Our opening Scripture shows us that Jesus Christ gave Himself for us to redeem us from all iniquity, and to purify unto Himself a peculiar people zealous for good works. Evidently, He gave Himself to redeem us from all iniquity. Here is what redemption means: A divine buy back. Jesus paid for us from satan's dominion with His own blood; He bought us back from the dominion of satan, and of sin and of the world.
Jesus did not just die to offer us mere forgiveness of sin. He died to get us out of the dominion or reign of sin; He died to buy us back from every iniquity. He died to offer us forgiveness, justification and dominion over sin. Living in Christ above sin is the icing on the cake of the finished works of Jesus at Calvary. All Jesus did for us in His substitutionary work is to one end: that we might live above sin, satan and the world, in fellowship with the Father forever. Our fellowship is with the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. Our fellowship is not with the unfruitful works of darkness. Hallelujah!
Also, in John 14:6 Jesus says ”I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” He is saying that He came to lead us to the Father, and to endear us to Him. This means that He came to re-instate the fellowship that once existed between man and God such that heaven is no longer far away, and the Father is no longer estranged from His own children. John 8:12 tells us that Jesus came to reveal the true light of life that God ordained for man to live by. John 1:9 calls Jesus the true Light that lights every man that comes into this world. This light is that of righteousness, holiness and love. Beloved, you have power to live above sin in Christ. You have been redeemed from the power of iniquity. You don't fellowship with sin anymore! Your fellowship is with Light, and God is Light. Hallelujah!
