READING: 1 John 2:1-11
TOPIC: EVIDENCE THAT YOU KNOW GOD
There are things in life you need to be sure about because so much depends on the outcome. Your salvation is such an issue. The Bible warns that many are deceived about this crucial matter (Luke 13:27). Christianity is not just knowing about God but knowing God. John 17:3 says, “This is eternal life that they may know you, the only true God and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” Christianity at its heart is, knowing God personally through Jesus Christ.
Our text identifies practical evidence that may help you be sure that you know God personally. Some of the evidences are that you: Fellowship with the brethren, keep God’s Commandments, walk as Jesus walked and love the brethren. God’s Commandments are in the New Testament. Let us mention a few here. Christians are commanded to: abstain from idols (Acts 15:20); awake to righteousness (1Cor. 15:34); ask in order to receive (Mathew 7:7), and many more. To walk as Jesus walked means doing everything with the aim of pleasing your heavenly Father. Jesus said “My food is to do the will of Him who sent me and to finish His work” (John 4:34). Love of the brethren is also paramount. In all, God expects you to live an exemplary life that others may see Him through you.
PRAYER: Pray that the Holy Spirit will daily illuminate your heart with the knowledge of God through His Word.
His grace is sufficient for me. Always grateful to him for the gift of life
