But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
Psalm 1:2-3
The above verse together with Joshua 1:8 talk about meditation on the law being the key to prosperity. The question then is what about the Law is able to make a person prosper?
The word Law in the verse comes from the Hebrew word Torah which represents the first five books of the Bible and not just the 10 commandments. Amidst the many "thou shalt not" in the Law is also the revelation of Christ(Luke 24:44). When one meditates on the law therefore, he beholds this revelation of Christ and becomes transformed into His image and this is what shoots forth prosperity. A Christlike person will be prosperous in every endeavor of his life be it: marriage, studies or business because he is filled with the wisdom of God. Eg. A Christlike husband will love his wife as Christ loves the church and hence be prosperous in his marriage.
However, the truth is at the time the events of this scripture together with Joshua 1:8 were taking place, the law(5 books of Moses ) was the only scripture available and hence the only source of revelation about Christ; but now, all the books given in the Bible contain revelations of Christ and so meditation on any of them will produce the same result of prosperity.
LIFE APPLICATION
It is not enough just reading God's word. If you want to reap prosperity out of it, then you must ponder on it over and over again.
PRAYER
Thank you Lord for showing me the way to prosperity.
