The blessings of obedience are a promise from God and guarantee us peace, joy and great prosperity, as well as a long life.
The blessings of obedience to God are so many and are found in the book of Deuteronomy 28. Does this mean that such blessings exempt us from the adversity of the world? Of course not. Adversity is a necessary consequence of this decomposed and anarchic world in which we have to live whether we like it or not. However, these blessings do guarantee that we can overcome difficulties in a successful way, because we have the backing of a powerful God who has promised.
The blessings of obedience
Let's see then what are the blessings of obedience. In chapter 28: 2 of the book of Deuteronomy, God begins by speaking thus:
"If you obey the Lord your God, all these blessings will come upon you and will always accompany you":
Peace: "Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed in the field," Deut 28: 3.
Abundance: "Blessed shall be the fruit of your womb, your crops, the young of your livestock, the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks. Blessed are your basket and your kneading table ", Deut 28: 4-5. But he also says in Deuteronomy 28: 8: "The Lord will bless your barns, and all the work of your hands."
Protection: "Blessed shall you be in the home and blessed in the way," Deut 28: 6.
Triumph and victory: "The Lord will grant you victory over your enemies. They will advance against you in perfect formation, but they will flee in disarray ".
Prosperity: "The Lord will open the heavens, his generous treasure, to pour rain in due time on earth, and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations, but you will not borrow from anyone. The Lord will put you in the lead, never in the queue. You will always be at the top, never in the background, provided you pay attention to the commandments of the Lord your God that I command you today, and obey them carefully. " Deuteronomy 28: 12-13.
But the great condition for all these blessings is obedience without question, obedience to his Word, to his norms, to his commandments. Because it also says: "If you really listen to the Lord your God, and faithfully fulfill all these commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you above all the nations of the earth," Deuteronomy 28: 1.
From the above we deduce that obedience to God always brings blessing, as well as consequences for disobedience to God. This is more than a promise and if the only condition for these blessings is obedience, I think it is not so difficult. Try it and you will see the results.
