The Majesty of my God!

Ps 19: 1 The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament announces the work of his hands. Ps 8: 3 When I see your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you have formed, Ps 8: 4 I say: What is man, that you may have his memory, and the son of man, so that you visit?

If you have ever looked at the firmament on a clear night, I think you have been impressed with the beauty and grandeur of what your eyes can see. The sky that covers us is great and the skies that cover our sky are even bigger.

Man asks what is beyond this earth? And even with the advances in science of our day, what can be said is little. Skeptics remain in their foolishness to deny that there is a Designer and Creator and persist in theories that ultimately end up without a floor, however the rain keeps falling and the sun keeps shining, and they ignore that they are expressions of the same mercy of God for them.

For believers, contemplating creation is a privilege, what we are allowed to see is great enough to be ecstatic. We not only believe in a Designer and Creator but we believe that He who made all things also sustains them with his word of power.

The portions of the previous Psalms were written by David about 3,000 years ago. David was a great observer with the soul of an artist. The hours he spent pasturing sheep taught him to see God as a shepherd and possibly in his escape from Saul's wrath, many nights his roof was the starry sky. He could then say that the heavens speak of the glory of God, that they tell it loudly. The unparalleled beauty and order of the universe proclaim that there is a glorious Being that owns all of it.

Appreciating the greatness of something or someone reminds us of our place in the universe. Man has come to build great things. The 7 wonders of the ancient world bear witness to this. Currently, mega structures are everywhere and impressive construction projects abound. Who would have thought in David's time that buildings like those of today would be seen? Nobody knows how much I measure the tower of Babel that Genesis 11 talks about; It must have been very high, However, at present there are constructions that approach the kilometer of height. The tallest building in the world is in the city of Dubai (United Arab Emirates). The building is called Burj Khalifa and measures 828 meters high. There is a project in Tokyo (Japan) to build a building that will measure one kilometer high by one kilometer wide and long.

Can you imagine something like that? They want to build a city within the city. Possibly they will achieve it if the time reaches them, but with all this, the reach of man is so limited when we admire the creation of God that until now we have been allowed to see. I remember what a school teacher told us in class a few years ago: "Man, even with everything he can do, has not been able to create just the leaf of a tree".

David 3000 years ago was so limited in information and resources to investigate the greatness of the universe but the immensity of what he saw left him so perplexed to the point of asking God What is man so that you have the memory and the son of the man to visit him ?. David is so surprised that someone with so much power, that someone who is the owner of the tapestry of stars that covered him at night remembered him and also visited him. There can be no option for those who open their eyes to the greatness of the Lord to humble themselves before Him. The more someone can see the action of God around them, the more humble it will become, that is why the spiritual blind are governed by pride . Their blindness does not allow them to see either the goodness or the power of God.
