The Old Dog Explores: An E Powered Steemcation Into The Future!

in #steemcation7 years ago (edited)

Today Was Day Two of Our Steemcation And it Was Empowering!

We have now used only SBD earnings for the past two days and it has been a hands on demonstaration of the power of Steemit, the blockchain and Graphene!

Somehow Steem seems to go hand in glove with the green energy technology that is sweeping this world. Here, in this area of Germany the majority of homes and businesses seem to be producing their own electricity and hot water. That's great!

Our First Experience With e Bikes!

This e powered bike by Corratec was a fabulous introduction for us to this technology. Am I contemplating the future?

I spent most of my youth zipping around and getting wherever I wanted to go on my bicycle. Sadly, like most people, I have succumbed to the gasoline powered automobile as my go to mode of transport. That's why it was so great that here at our hotel they provide the free use of their high tech e bikes.

I was so surprised at the power assist that these beauties provided and climbing the scenic hills was a breeze with a little help from our new found e bike friends!

@lellabird60 had her free spirit renewed as she soared silently along these beautiful bike paths!

There are so many sections of the paths that take you into dense forest where the smell of the pines is enchanting!

This Really is a Cyclist's Paradise!

We have encountered several groups who are cycling through the area. Some are doing this by riding from accommodation to accommodation and having their "luggage" delivered to each spot while others (usually of the younger variety) are carrying their things on their backs and side bags!

It is so nice to arrive a these quaint villages after a cycle through the forest! This is Freudenstadt....gorgeous!

This is Cawl. The use of flowers is all pervasive and we LOVE it!

What Will The Future Bring?

  • How far will Steem take us?
  • Will some Steemers live by blogging from home and then e bike around as they visit others and run errands?
  • When will we be able to spend SBD or Steem directly without exchangimg it first?

Time will tell what these answers will be but in the meantime I'm having a blast on my "e Powered Steemcation Into The Future!"

Until next time,

@kus-knee (The Old Dog)

If there's anything you'd like to know about ebikes, feel free to ask me. You can see on my profile that I've spent the last couple of months custom building my own:

They are indeed infectiously fun, and I'll bet having tried one out, it won't be long before you get the itch to buy/build your own. :)

Wow!
SOOO cool!
An E bike adventure powered by Esteem!
You really are thriving in this new era!
So awesome to see an "old" dog blow the young Dawgs out of the water!
Get em!

Thanks a lot! We used them again yesterday in another great location. About 50 km rolling hills of wine country. It was a greatness way to explore this part of Germany.

Oooooo sounds so nice!
Rolling hills though wine country!!!
Hopefully you took a little break for a nice glass or two ;-)>

Great, certainly eBikes are eco-friendly, pratctical and keeps fitted too! And you can enjoy the surrounding while you go from here to there. I hope to see more ebikes around, even if I still remain with my legs powered bike atm! :) Keep on riding!

You've got young legs! Check back with me when you hit 60!

Eheh I've to confess that I already wish to have something (or someone I don't care) to pushing me up when I face Cassone street 😄

"E-bike" killed the "bicycle" star?!?!

Yes well my star had fallen a long time ago!

In quite many cases, electric bike can replace the need to use a car. I don't own an electric bike myself but I've been riding one and it's awesome.

Even though riding a regular bike is an option too, it's not typically easy and fun enough for the majority of the people to choose.

  • I'm not happily taking my regular bike for grocery shopping, as I know how much food I'll buy in one trip.

  • I'm not going 10km trips to work in winter with regular bike, even though in summer it's completely ok.

  • Neither will I use my regular bike when I have to be quick moving to 3-5km away, even though otherwise it wouldn't be a problem

I'd love to do all of this with an electric bike. They are making life so much easier and the same time, this could be a real good deed for the environment. Electric car is still huge and requires more energy than an e-bike and this way, energy is saved compared to the other options.

About the comments, I'm curious how many have no clue of what an elecric bike is. It's good that you post about something like this :)

It was my first time trying an electric bike and it was soooo much fun. We went again today!

I'm really happy you liked it and more importantly, you wrote about it on Steemit.

People like you are the pioneers of e-biking, even though we see them being sold almost everywhere, people need to hear from experiences from the users like you.

I hope you have good times on your bike ahead of you.

Those e-bikes look like a really cool invention... might have to look into that. Part of the drawback to biking in our small town is that it is very hilly between 0 and about 130m with quite steep hills in many areas. Keeps you fit... but a little electric assist for use older guys would be nice!

Looks like some really beautiful landscapes you're exploring there-- look forward to sharing in the continued journey!

You should try one out and see how you like it. We climbed a very steep hill without breaking a sweat. It was amazing. These bikes had several levels of assist and you could really feel it kick in!

beautiful place out there Old Dog!
Thanks for taking us with you on this trip through this!
how far you asked? Fingers crossed - to the moon and back!
would evry much love to experience being able to just spend Steem straight out of the wallet without hazzles in real life!

Warmest regards to you and the bird! Hopefully she's relaxed!
your Mrs. is as kind as you are Old Dog! Lucky you!

Thanks so much for the kind words!

When I was living in Germany nearly 30 years ago I found they were way ahead of the UK on environmental issues such as recycling and renewables. I think they are less cynical in general. They just get on with what needs doing.

I have the same impression. The solar panels really fit right in as an unobtrusive part of the architecture.

That village is peaceful and the surrounding is relaxing. If we could only preserve the beauty of nature for the next generation, I'm afraid these view could only witness in the form of video or graphics someday.

You are right about protecting this beauty!

Wow, looks like a very nice place where to spend nice time!!!
About your question at the bottom, this is my dream (and hop, sure!): live by painting and blogging from home. I'm close to this objective thanks to steemit (me and Paolo don't have big needed in our life, it help ^_^). About the bike, I'll learn to ride it :D

I wish you great blessings in reaching your dream!

You're getting there! Keep life simple and you will succeed!

WOW! I'm loving your steemcations. It's our pleasure that in such beautiful places you remember to share your enchanting stories with us. This shows how much you care about your readers. So it's not only you who is on steemcation, we too are having our time ...and that too on your Steem 😜

Traveling in these scenic settings can make anyone fall in love with these pretty ebikes ..esp. when your hotel provides them for free to you. But at 3499,00 € I find them damn costly ...not at all feasible for my country. Dunno about Germany but I doubt many would be using it there too. It must be a luxury to ride such a bike! But yes, you do deserve that luxury on your steemcations.

We have got 10-12 times cheaper Lithium ion battery bikes (though they are half its power), yet they ain't any popular. If you happen to meet the Corratec CEO ask him to build a 50 times cheaper version for mass market ...perhaps power it by steam to get rid of e-waste generation 😉
He will be grateful to you for this idea. 😊

So what destination are we going tomorrow? Can't wait to visit, it's fun traveling with you.

Thanks

Finally a Steem-powered Bike :-D

Thanks for taking us along on this journey, lovin' it!

Just remember:

S'gibt Badische und Unsymbadische

Thanks for your German play on words!

I love those bikes. Really keen to try them. I like the fact they are steem powered! How long does it take between charges? Do they charge easily?

I'm not sure how long it takes between charges but a charge will last about 3 hours if you don't use the assistance at full power all of the time.

Smashing devices. I will have to get a shot of one to try!

@kus-knee,
STEEM yes something that changed our day to day lives drastically. Whatever we saw - we take a photo, whatever we experience - we share the experience, whatever we listen - we share that music, whatever we watch - we share that movie... So this is STEEM that drastically changed our lives in a year of time.

When I read your blog, I could feel your experiences, I am enjoying by watching your photography and I really like to read your new experiences as well. Actually this is something remarkable. Something that gifted us in last year as STEEM.

Not only this post, I could remember your experience at that floating (wobby) bridge, sculptures that you visited few months ago!
So, this is what we have gained from STEEMS, I mean that a new experience for us.

I don't know how far STEEM go, but I can assure this is something powerful, a powerful concept, and waiting for the day that we can directly use this SDB without having exchanges.

Thanks for sharing your great traveling experiences with us!

Awaiting to read the next post too.

Cheers~

Thanks so much for your lovely comment!

It's been a while dawg! :)
I believe Steem will take us in proportion on how much we build it up as one community in one accord. That means sky is the limit.
There have been some animosity going around these days, but those are just trivial matters. Let us just augment this wonderful platform and keep on uplifting each and everyone of us.

(that is my 0.02 cents btw.. ^u^)

Thanks so much for your comment! It's easy to tear down...I'm glad that you like to build up!

I really hope Steemit in the future will only get better.

Those Corratec E-bike looks like an awesome device! I love cycling and with those i could have my wife join me at the same pace!

About Steemit. I really believe in the future of it ... so i powered up a bit as well. Congrats on your SBD powered trip.

Yes the e bikes are a great equalizer! I was very impressed!

Very very nice place you have visited friend. The beautiful path amongs the forest looks very pretty. The buildings are looking like paradise. Again I say you are the most luckiest person who has such a great power of voting too and can enjoy your weekend. Thanks for sharing such an amazing pictures and post. If you don't mind, I will be very happy if you give a visit on my post. Wish you good health and happiness, Happy steeming friend.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I got the Steempower bit by bit by bit by bit!

What a great adventure, looks like you had a good time. Those flowers on the bridge gives more contrast, lovely. Cheers!

Yes the flowers ar fantastic!

Indeed, very creative :)

We could just convert the SBD or Steem into Bitcoin and spend that.

You're right!

I love ebikes :D

Beautiful bike paths! Must be nice to go for a ride and enjoy the smell of the pines!

It really is a wonderful experience. We will do it again today!

Yes, its great to ride an e bike for a change!

Have you tried them?

your youth bycycle nostagic time seems to kick in.😃😃

Indeed. I felt like a kid again!

Looks like a great Steemcation to me! Steemit is awesome!

I've never been to Germany and your photos 'wowed' me with the beautiful scenery Looks like they're very advanced when it comes to renewables and eco-living. I too wonder where Steem will take us all. I think the community aspect of Steemit is one of the best and most important things about it.
Steem on and enjoy the rest of your Steemcation!

Yes you are right. Focus on the community and the rest is a bonus!

I never thought that in europe there is still a green place like this. I think in europe everybody lives in freedom with tall buildings. This is amazing, hopefully I can visit there. Btw. I like your story, keep on sharing.

Thanks so much for your comment. Where are you located?

You're welcome @kus-knee, I'm from Aceh, southeast Asia.. you know? Some time I'm travel to Istanbul :)

Sry maybe is aout a bit of topic but in steemit is a user crazy about this bikes . I follow his blog and seems so logical to have one , even my son want :) Seems you have very nice time tis days enjoy :)

Yes lots of fun. Using the bikes was a highlight!

nice post, nice pictures...... good work...

Which place is this? The scenery is breathtaking i must say!

Thanks my friend!

When you say e Bikes, can you describe that for me? Like...how do they work?

There is a battery pack which provides power, when you want it, to the drive chain and so it assists your pedalling.

great post @kus-knee happy to see you enjoying what you love to do :)

Nice post and beautiful pictures @kus-knee just give you up vote

Thanks a lot!

"What Will The Future Bring?"

That depends on which fork you take in the road just ahead!

Good one! There have been several of those and there are more to come. Hang on tight!

Amazing architecture. I love old buildings like this :]

you must have a great ride and enjoying lovely weather.

Yes, it has been fantastic. We did the last half of our biking yesterday in the rain but that was also great!

It sounds like you are living the dream and showing that Steemit works. Biking in Germany would be a cultural and health benefit and what better roads to travel. Lovely photos and beautiful green. Thanks for sharing. upvoted and following. - Troy from Iowa USA.

Thanks so much Troy. Are you a pianist? My wife is a piano technician.

I am my friend. I studied at Coe College in Iowa and now make my living playing for weddings, retirement homes singing telegrams, corporate venues. Feel free to check out my website if you wish. www.enjoywithtroy.com Again thanks for sharing. - Troy

Very cool!

Seems like a nice area of Germany. Love the forest and the hills. Beautiful!

It is enchantingly beautiful here!

I love e-bikes and your post.. Steem can bring you further... with or without e-bike.. I hope to find a power yet motor soon to keep me going on steemit.. Thx again for the post

Keep going.....you'll get there!

This post received a 3.3% upvote from @randowhale thanks to @kus-knee! For more information, click here!

I also planned to buy e-bike in near future. It would be great to ride it

Have you already tried one?

Thank you @kus-knee for a great trip! I believe that Steemit is my future and my financial and time freedom!
I love to ride a bicycle at sunset! Here's what water was on the lake!
https://steemit.com/colorchallenge/@olga.maslievich/color-challenge-tuesday-orange-orange-water-at-sunset-on-the-lake

Thanks for the nice pic!

those Ebikes look brilliant! our dream is to own a motorhome to live in full time and tour, but motorhomes are naturally restrictive for parking and exploring small towns, so a couple of these in the motorhome garage would be just the job!:D

You would do very well to have acouple of these strapped to the back of your motorhome!

Not a bad choice to take few bikes, power up with steem and have a great vacation)

Great fun!

Awesome post! Can you tell me the advantages of this e-bike? The differences between it and the normal bike?

Anyway, the paths in the picture are very beautiful with the green grass! I cannot believe there is a beautiful place like that!

The e bike gives you some power when you feel that you need it.

The electric bike pic really caught my eye. I have been looking into these now for almost a year! Getting ready to pull the trigger on a purchase of one here in the US. Do you have any recommendations on what I should beaware of when I do? Thanks Great read by the way, upvoted.

I have no recommendations for you as it was my first time using one. I can only say that ai loved it and that it's very helpful for going up hills!

Amazing those ebikes. My dad and mom love them dearly :)

Your dad and mom?? Great ! What do they use them for? transportation or recreation?

An e-bike in the mountains is really appreciated. Never used one before, but I agree that this is win-win situation. 😊

It sure is!
