Having completed a successful transaction using this community initiative, I feel encouraged to continue to support the @steembay initiative, as part of creating a Steem-based economy, here in our community. I hope you'll show some support as well, since such initiatives will ultimately turn out to be positive for all of us.
My Steembay Auction no. 3: Another of my Hand Painted Mandala Stones
Free hand painted without stencils, markings or photographs!
Your bid is for: A completely free hand painted beach stone with an exceptionally intricate geometric mandala design in shades of red, yellow and white, with tiny accents in pink and gold. Ceramic paints on natural stone as found by me and my wife on our local beaches; painted by me.
The design is 100% free-hand; I use no photos, sketches, graphics or computer aids; the pattern emerges as I paint.
Shown from the side to show shape
Has a clear gloss finish coat to protect colored design. A stone of this size and complexity takes me about 4-5 hours to complete and has several hundred individual design elements.
Somewhat flat oblong shape, very smooth surface. Measures about 2 5/8" (67mm) long by 2 1/4" (57mm) across. About 7/8" (22mm) thick, at thickest.
Comes in a small organza gift bag with a small pamphlet with more details about my artwork and the process, and why I chose stones to paint on.
As previously promised, one of these days, I will get around to making a full reference post about my artwork... some of you may have noticed occasional photos show up in my posts about creativity.
Shown with a USA Quarter to give sense of size
In the meantime, have a look at the photos, and feel free to ask questions in the comment section!
Random questions and comments will NOT be read as bidding, so no worries.
Starting bid for this lovely piece is just 3.00 SBD!
This stone would typically be priced at around 50.00 USD at one of our gallery outlets, or if we were selling at a festival or street fair.
Auction will run for 7 days-- till this post expires.
So here's how bidding works:
Reply (directly) to this post with "bid x" (where x is the amount you are willing to bid in SBD).
Decimals have to be written with a period instead of a comma (5.9, NOT 5,9). Wait for the bot to log in the bid (it will tell you in seconds if it worked... sometimes it takes up to a minute due to transaction failures of the system)
If someone bids higher than you, the bot will reply to your post and reference your username.
The bot will reply to each accepted bid, stating what is actual highest bid and who is the high bidder. The bot will also reply when you are overbid, and state the new high bidder.
If you need to retract your bid just enter "revoke bid"
"Normal" (non-auction) comments will not interfere with the auction, and will not make you a bidder! Upvotes are welcome and accepted with gratitude as any rewards from this post will help cover the cost of shipping the item.

Shipping is FREE to the USA via first class mail
Ships from Port Townsend, Washington, USA; US shipping is free.
INTERNATIONAL Shipping: This is a little more complicated. The base cost to mail this outside the USA is 22.50 USD via air packet. Sorry, USPS is expensive! However, I am counting on upvotes on this post to help underwrite at least part the cost of postage, so I am just making non-USA postage a flat 2.00 SBD fee.
To make this Steemit Official, here's "proof of stone in hand!"
After the Auction:
Payment for winning bid (+ postage costs for non-USA winners) will be in SBD. I will need the winning bidder's contact/shipping information, which we can either exchange via Encrypted Wallet Memos or through Steemit.chat.
Once I have your information, you can pay via direct wallet transfer, and I will ship your item.
I think that about covers it-- otherwise, feel free to ask questions in the comment section! I appreciate your interest, and good luck in the auction!
About SteemBay:
@steembay is basically an auction/for sale utility bot in the manner of eBay, except it runs within the confines of the Steemit ecosystem, and payment is in SBD... so it's an opportunity to actually use your SBD for something other than buying Steem or BTC! And it's a chance for us to develop and support our own economy here!
To learn more about Steembay, there's both the orginal introductory post, as well as a quick tutorial. To see what other people are offering, visit @steembay and click on the most recent "Daily Report of Steembay" post... or you can simply click on the#steembay tag, anywhere you come across it!

bid 12.0
Congratulations @surfyogi! You have been declared the winning bidder; appreciate your interest.
Your total due is 12.00 SBD. As I am pretty sure you are here in the USA, there is no shipping charge.
If you like, you can send me your address by encrypted wallet message: when you transfer the 12.00 SBD, start the "memo" with "# " (hashtag + space) and then add your address in the memo field. It will then be invisible to everyone other than you and I.
Or you can email the information to me at "denmarkguy (at) gmail.com."
Thanks again for bidding on my stone! It's exciting to be pioneering commerce on Steemit, AND I really appreciate your support of independent arts and crafts!
Done!

I assumed bids needed to be first line, then comments on later lines, maybe not?
Looks very nice, looking forward to speaking with you about how it was created!
Cheers, SY-
I think for a bid to count, the first thing the bot has to encounter is the bid and amount; anything after that is ignored. But that's a good question...
Beautiful intricate work. You're very talented. And it's nice to know steembay works. I was considering using it.
Thank you! Steembay has been a good experience so far; it's still in the experimental stage, but gaining some momentum.
Well hopefully you're okay with a humble comment that isn't about buying anything. Those stones are really cool and I think it's great that you are finding a way to both bring joy to people and also make some money while you're doing it.
No problem at all, and thanks for the kind words! I really enjoy making them, and it's cool to be able to share them with a worldwide audience.
Loving the detail. I wish you the best and hope that your auction goes well.
Thank you Nate, appreciate it! Hopefully this will go well-- last attempt was successful, and I like supporting the "internal" Steem economy.
Glad that the last attempt was a success. It is fun to watch more internal Steem transactions take place. I have an online course that is set up on another platform. I really wish that I could find a way to integrate Steem/SBD as a payment option.
Thanks for supporting the "internal" system. That is one key to making our community and platform more successful.
Have you tried using PeerHub? I believe you can list services there and although it is "off Steemit," you set it up to accept SBD/Steem:
https://www.peerhub.com/
Definitely gonna check this out. Thanks for sharing! I had not heard of PeerHub yet.
You are really gifted. Never seen any hand-painted stone this beautiful. It's very very encouraging to know that you have not abandoned your talent because of Steemit. Art is your real talent. Don't ever stop making these stones
Thank you @penking, for the nice compliment! No, not planning to give up my painting (or anything else, for that matter) because of Steemit.
Hold on to this. I visualize a time when you will be so great that your works will traverse seas and reach the remotest parts of the earth. Art will soon be valued more than it has ever been in the history of mankind and it's very safe to be part of this revolution.
Good luck with your auction. Glad to see the bidding has already started. 😊
Thank you, Gillian-- hoping it will go as well as the last one! These tend to be helped along by the daily update post the guys with @steembay put out.
Oh. Thanks for that . I'll start following them and see what people are doing with auctions.
Lovely intricate design. Each circle is like adding a new dimensional impression. The dark colour of the rock accentuating this affect. Great to see competitive bidding. 🦋
Upped and resteemed.
I'm in far away Africa. I don't think it can get shipped to this place.
Mostly I would be concerned about having a safe and trusted place to receive it. It just depends on the place and how secure the postal service is there. Private courier service is safer, but it becomes incredibly expensive.
You are extremely talented and i will like to have it. Meanwhile i will also like to learn how to make it, hope its cool.
Thank you! It just takes practice and determination and some experimentation... along with a LOT of patience!
Wow, you are very talented. I can believe it took hours to make. I've painted on rocks but none this intricate and beautiful! Good luck with your auction!
Thanks for the good wishes; I hope it goes well!
You have a real talent. Never stop making these stones sir. We appreciate the amount of effort you are doing. Continue creativity @denmarkguy
Thank you for your kind words.
We all support you. Because this art should not be lost loved by my friend @denmarkguy
