I love painting splashy critters!
At @aussieninja's suggestion, I tried playing with Australian wildlife for subjects. It was surprisingly hard! Maybe because although I have seen these creatures in film & television, they're not prevalent in my day-to-day visuals, and I've of course never seen them in real life.
I have HEARD a koala before. It was terrifying. I had just had a lovely (read: terrible) shower in the camp showers at Booderee Ntl Park and was scuttling out in the dark to find my way back to the van when I heard it. I could tell it was above me in a bigass tree but I could not see it. If you haven't heard a koala, look it up. They sound like monsters.
Anyway, that brings me 'round to my first somewhat successful Aussie critter painting! Mr. Koala!
Watercolour & ink.
I tend to like to paint my splashy critters in action(ish) poses. But, for some reason I loved how the Koala looked just chillin. I feel like he's saying something like "I dunno, man, what do you want to do?"
Soooo chill.
Thanks for checking out my newbie painting work! If you like it please leave an upvote, comment, and follow if you would like to see more! Cheers and many thanks!

THIS IS SO GOOD! I'm so excited!
Ah, I'm not very Aussie-y since I don't think I've ever heard a koala... but I can imagine they're pretty grouchy. I've only ever seen them asleep in random trees. Hahaha, he's such a chill monster, he's all like 'wat?'
Arrrgh, this is so good, I can't even contain it. Amazing job Caity Cat!
Dude! I'm so glad you like it! Thank you, as always, for your awesome cheerleading and support!
I really struggled with a variety of Aussie critters, then this guy just jumped onto the page with no trouble at all.
Art is weird. Haha
Cheers !
As you said... it's all what you know... I've seen thousands of images and photos of all the Aussie critters, especially the indigenous Aboriginal which just looks so cool, that if I had some arts skillz I could whip it up super easily.. but an elk or a moose or a bear slapping a fish, no idea. Thanks so much for finishing this even if it was outside your comfort zone... it's so good!
I love this! I've always had trouble drawing animals, so I admire people who can. Resteemed! I could totally see this as like a logo for a wildlife sanctuary or something. Koalas crack me up because the babies can only eat their mother's fecal pap. ;___; It's pretty gross.
Yes I have struggled with animals too! Practice practice practice.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your support!
Ew nature is so gross sometimes HAHA
I love the ears!
Koala ears are the best part of the Koala!
You're right... obviously... but man that big ol nose has to come in at a very close second...
Awesome. I was patiently waiting for the next work! Worth an upvote, I reckon!

Thanks, man! Cheers!
This is so cute! So glad I have followed ☺️
Thank you so much! Glad to have you here!
Woah this is super cool. As an Aussie myself it's always great to see paintings of our wildlife. It's like a portrait of a family member (a reaaaaally lazy family member) :P

Thanks, man!! I appreciate you stopping by! I did join last week but haven't really had the chance to dig in and look around! I will for sure start rooting around this week!
Cheers!!
