This is why I don't have accounts on these exchanges, or a wallet, other than Steemit. I have no trust for them.
However, Poloniex seems to be making an effort to maintain user accounts, while dealing with issues it isn't making public. I would suspect that this indicates publicizing the issues would harm account holders.
I also don't see that other exchanges not having this issue as necessarily indicating that Poloniex is certain to be at fault. They may actually be dealing with problems that other exchanges are just ignoring, or even causing.
Without more information, it is impossible to know.
The fact is that cryptos are just too insecure and obtuse for, at least, non-specialists in cryptography and networking to have any trust in whatsoever (and perhaps specialists as well). Until these issues themselves are resolved, cryptos look more like a trap than an opportunity to most folks.
I do not feel any resentment towards folks that have made out well with cryptos. I just can't justify presently the risk given the circumstances. It is antithetical to the first rule of sound investing, which is make sure you don't lose your investment.
Not that I have anything to invest =p. My advice or thoughts on the matter are certainly worth exactly my level of investment!
Yeah, the name is symbolically negative. Cryptography is to encode, to make secret so secrecy, dark, evil... is just slides down there! Risky dark side of money... Crypto money is bad!!!!!! It has negative connotations.
I do not fear connotations, but concatenations of confusion and collusion, and other c words too.
