RE: Hardfork 20 (“Velocity”) development update

in #steem7 years ago

I think you might have answered your own question here: review Steem (or HF 20) as if it were a new MMO or tabletop RPG. You can note which parts work, and which don’t. What the “game designers” were trying to do, and how then”players” game the system. Etc.

Voila! A post that appeals to Steem nerdians and gamerfolk all at the same time!

Sort:

I think that might be a fine way to cause massive damage to sanity across the board – and while that is usually my intent, maybe I should give people a Christmas break to be with their families, contemplate their mortality in the coming year, and not hybridize things into terrible, Frankenstein monsters of a post.

(Besides, I think I've done all that work. Ultimately I'd have to find that as a game it seems to miss the mark. Unless you're one of those people who happen to like fiddly min-max systems where you spend far more time playing the mechanics than you do other people at the table. Some people are into that. Not as many as they think.)

CRUSH THEM! Sanity is overrated, anyways.

I did give up my sanity decades ago, but I choose carefully when to drag others down into the maelstrom with me.

Besides, it's a lot more fun to write turn by turn after action reports on tabletop RPG/wargames. I think I'll just keep my horrifying analysis of crypto-social platforms in comments for now.
