RE: Bloomberg Technology Posts Follow-Up Article Focusing Upon Flag Wars

in #steem7 years ago

Some part of that article are embarrassment for our community. It is totally bad. It won't help us project good image outside.

Thank you for reporting that school shooting live via Zappl but you reached your 4 Zap limit so come back in 24 hours.

I am a hardcore twitter user. You can call me addict. Since the time i came to steemit i have reduced my usage of twitter and now tweet very less often. But still steemit for me has not become a replacement for twitter. Zappl can't replace twitter because everything ends up and shows up on steem blockchain. If i post more than 5 - 8 zappl's here then people will consider me a spammer. They will call me reward pool rapist. This doesn't happen on twitter. If i feel enraged by anything or see any hashtag, then i jump and bleed my heart out. This is how i use twitter. On top of that there are no interesting hashtags running on zappl to even think that we can have that kind of engagement as on twitter.

Same is true even for facebook. To be a competition to facebook we need the kind of engagement that facebook provides. If that is not there then it is not possible to beat the facebook or even think about it.

More posts will only garner more attention for this blockchain and give the search engines more to index.

There should be more unique posts that attracts attention of readers. A kind of attention and interest that they should forget the money aspect and should come here only for the knowledge purpose.

For example we should look at wikipedia and see why people visit wikipedia. After that we should do what ever it takes to bring people to steemit like wikipedia does. It is done by more content. I mean valuable and informative content.

I know we already have diversity in content but this won't be enough to appeal to someone who is looking to learn stitching on a sewing machine. Youtube does that. On Youtube there are channels dedicated to teaching sewing. We need that kind of stuff here. People should come here to learn and settle down.

There are many tech vlogger's on Youtube. I am one of them. I have many subscribers. Most of them comment and like my every new video because they know that my information is valuable to them. Now since last 3 months i have not uploaded a single video there because of shortage of time. Even then there are people who visit my videos and ask me help in regards with new smartphone suggestions.

All in all what i want to say is we want people to come to steemit for value of entertainment and knowledge. We also need equal opportunity regardless of steem power and voting weight. Payout should depend on the kind of article written. But not on the basis of number of friends one has on steemit.

Content should continue to earn for lifetime as long as it brings in view. This will encourage SEO practice while writing articles here. This will increase our search ranking. This will then increase the readership because then we will be among first google search page.

All are good points but reward (money) is involved things get complicated. 7 days limitation is for how the blocks are created and how reward is calculated. Here "code is law", that needs adaptations (hardforks) to find optimum solutions. For example, nobody will STEEM, if it does not provide benefits (more SP, more VP, or price speculations). When someone with SP (a human being) will behave according to his traits. It is hard to find all the solutions with "code", that's why more updates are required. STEEM already had lots of upgrades (hard-fork), more are coming.
