You're right. It's difficult to get people to join. Out of the people I've convinced to sign up, about half of them have been active. Like any social network, it takes some effort to get active too. However, once you get over that hump, it gets a bit easier. I think Steemit is also a lot of fun and sort of addicting, but I guess it's not for everybody.
