A. No Buy In
Do you realize how big this is? Anyone can become a part of Steemit simply by signing up. That automatically makes them a hodler of a Steem wallet which comes fill with some tokens. While it isnt a lot, almost every other cryptocurrency out there needs to be purchased. Steem actually gives you currency for simply signing up. Consider the fact of how many people do not have money to invest in cryptocurrencies. This enables them to participate without having to lay out cash.
The Proof of Brain concept is amazing. Regardless of what you earned on here, I can almost guarantee it is more than FB and Reddit paid you. This site isnt advanced because people are running supercomputers with GPUs in them (although they might be). We are seeing an explosion because average individuals are able to post quality, original content.
"It's the content stupid".
B. Wonderful People
There are some amazing people on here. In my 6 weeks on Steemit, I came across some incredible people who are all active. If you want to see what I mean, check out @lindsaybowes and her @walkwithme program. For those who need a bit of optimism in your day, give @stackin a visit. This guy makes me look bearish on Steem. @cryptoeagle and I had some wonderful conversations after gutting out a hurricane. @daveb is a fantastic conversationalist who is firm in his views. @futurethinker and I just started conversing a bit and I like his knowledge of tech and what is happening. And @phoenixwren is my go to coconut/palm girl.
These are just a few of the names that I interacted with in the last couple days. There are tens of others.
My point is wonderful people create sensational content. As time goes by, I hope it will only get better.
C. We Are So Small
I am going to guess we are right around 400,000 members. It is reported that only about 20,000 of those who signed up are actually active on here. 20,000!!!! Do you realize how small that is. If it was a town, it wouldnt even be in the top 100 in the U.S. The world has 7B people on it with roughly 3B online. Steemit, while still in the beta stage, is a flea on a horse at this point. While some could view that as a negative, I see it as an opportunity for massive growth.
Another aspect of this is welcome to the bottom floor. Everyone seeks out those opportunities to get in early. Well, my friends, this is early. Sure people can complain about those who got in a year ago when the site was smaller and Steem was cheaper. My outlook is people will be saying the same thing a year from now.
D. Wall Street Is Lurking
The crypto world is about to explode in my opinion. Wall Street is starting to get a sniff of the money that can be made here. Do you know Wall Street is? It is a master marketing organization. People think of the Street as financial but they really are marketers. When you have a situation like with crypto, they will be the ones on the phones and t.v. getting the word out. Remember, this is how they get paid..by bringing in the money. And they are very good at it.
E. Top Notch Blockchain
Do you know what the problem is with Bitcoin? The ability to scale up the number of transactions per second. Do you know the problem with Ethereum? Same thing. Are you aware that Steem has performed more transactions than both those blockchains? I do not think the average person, even on here, is aware of that.
While other blockchains are working on how to scale up, Steem is developing new platforms such as SMTs. Someone wrote on here today that we are going to see a time when everyone has their own cryptocurrency. SMTs could allow such a feat. Do you think Bitcoin or Ethereum offer this?
F. People Are Getting Paid
Write a post, get paid. Upvote a post, get paid. Comment on a post, get paid. Try that on Facebook or Reddit.
Money changes everything. Everything else aside, this is the golden nugget. Steemit can change people's lives. Each of us wants to be a whale but I am going to guess that most people would have a significant improvement in their lives if they even reached Dolphin status. I only started here a little more than a month ago and now I pull in $30-$50 a week. How many social networking sites enable one to perform that feat (full disclosure, I did buy some Steem to power up).
The Steemit motto should be "Post, Comment, and Upvote your way to financial freedom".
These are some of the reasons why I am 1000% confident in Steemit and where it is going. I truly believe this will be one of the largest and most widely used platforms. Right now Steemit's target market is Facebook, Reddit, Youtube, Spotify, and Padora to just name a few. Combined those entities have followings that amount into the billions. If Steemit just converts 5% of those people over, you will see a site that is a top 50 Alexa rated site.
What are your thoughts? Do you see Steemit the same way I do?
I agree ! I'm excited by what the future holds for Steem & the community... Im a newbie here but i can see how unique it is! So much potential in a rewarding decentalized platform!
I am glad you are jumping right in. That is crucial. Being here only 6 weeks makes me not much newer than you. That said, I did learn how important it is for all to contribute. Steemit made huge strides with 400K users but only 20K active. You are one of the few....carry that burden with pride.
Thankyou i will :) just to be clear is it new self created content only? Are links etc ok? Thanks In adavance
Links are okay....
To start, this site doesnt tolerate plagiarism so anything you post that is from elsewhere should have a reference. There are bots that go around and downvote people who dont do that. So if you use google images for your pics just denote it there.
To fully answer about links, yes that is fine. However, I can tell that it will be difficult to get ahead when you are consistently just posting links to videos or sites. I know I just pass the people by when I click on a good title and see it is nothing more than a youtube video.
If you are using an article, write up your thoughts and then link the article for those who want to fully read it. Then you have original content plus are linking the source. All are happy then.
I will publish original content. Thanks for replyiing
"E. Top Notch Blockchain"
"F. People Are Getting Paid"
Those two are really important. I think steemit already has its attraction. If the steemit is really is scalable, the early buyers en users are setting up for a lot of profits.
The supply increases with roughly 10% each year so, we are losing that in value basically, however the amount of steem we get back is enough to make up for that. We even could get more, if we do active curation and posting.
I agree completely. I think those in at this time are truly the early adopters and could make a fortune on this platform. This blockchain looks like it will be one of the ones used for a variety of applications. If that is the case, the increase in steem value will far outpace the 10% inflation you mentioned.
Great work and explanation....
My steemit journey started today, thank you for the interesting post.
Welcome aboard. I am glad to see you jumping right in. It is important for all newer people to get their feet wet and start contributing.
I suggest putting up a post @introduceyourself. That is a good way to garner some votes immediately.
I like where you head is at!! As I'm reading I just keep nodding my head. Yep yep yep. I am still super new to all this crytpocurrency stuff but the educational pieces I see on steemit are amazing!! So much to learn so little time. 😜
It takes about a month studying crypto to become very knowledgeable and years to realize how little you truly known.
The crypto world is truly remarkable...ever changing and growing. To get a handle on it all is impossible.
In my view, Steem is one of the hottest things going with the most potential. Say what you want, there are 400,000 wallets with money in them as we speak. In another year, that number will be well over a million, perhaps multiple millions.
The growth potential of this coin is huge.
I've been mentioning steemit to a few people but they just don't get. Well you snooze you lose I guess. Lol. The potential is unreal. I'm in it for the long haul!!
I got a couple people to sign up and they dont post even knowing that I am making a few bucks a day doing this. I even gave the site to one who claimed she was interested in Cryptocurrency and she said this site "looks interesting".
Well we tried. 😉 I work for the local power company and a mining company wants us to supply them power. So everyone here is talking all sarcastic about bitcoin and mining and making their own coins. I just kick back and wonder what company is setting up a mining station that needs 230 megawatts of power when it is completely up and running. I guess they just pull semi trailers in and plug them in. Idk.
Dealing with people about Steemit is like dealing with a drug addict about rehab. You have to plant the seed and let it sit for a while. Then, when things get back, hit them up with the idea of quitting.
Same here...plant the seed and wait. We know the publicity about crypto isnt going away. A month, a couple months, or even a year down the road, steemit will get on people's radar and we can say, I told you about that....sign up today so you dont waste more time.
Of course, by that time you will be speaking to them on your gold plated $25,000 gold IPhone. :)
Dah ha ha with a diamond apple logo.

This is pretty magnificent really you did very well job.
Thank you for the kind words @forexmaster.
There are times when the negativity likes to creep into this site. It is crucial to remember the opportunity in front of us and what we can accomplish here.

I agree. I am new here (also ...a dude, dude. LOL), but already I had one post go high enough I was able to sell some Steem Dollars which will be paying my overdue electric bill. If I could regularly pay that bill? Pay for cat food? Save up for my tiny house? Danu's breath, man, that is lifechanging. So much potential.
Sorry about that.....hard to tell gender on here lol
That is awesome that you got that electric bill taken care of from Steemit. Stories like that are what is going to attract people here.
I think that needs to be written about.
I was planning on writing about it, once it was done. And no worries, I get both genders all the time.
You should...it is part of what motivates and inspires.
Plus it is good for people to know their upvotes are really having an impact.
Found out about the company wanting to set up mining rigs in my area of Washington state asking the power company I work for to provide 230 mega watts of power. Bitmain.
Just an FYI
